Masterstroke by Gatland to bring Russell on so early.

Would have been a YC if the Lions didn't go over there. Brilliant try.

This is brilliant stuff. Referee telling South Africa they can't have a time-out.

That's the crazy thing about the way the laws work - you get more of an advantage if you don't score

I am not sure if ye are all seeing this (or hearing it) but AWJ is having a stormer, he is calling the Lions defense superbly. What a captain

This pitch is offering no purchase for players. It looks worse than the last two matches.

Russell is injecting some speed into the midfield and in turn out wide. Superb stuff from him.
AWJ, is leading in everything. This is a brilliant performance so far.

Re: South Africa vs British and Irish Lions 7th August
Despite the high-octane effort, Lions only four points up. Two visits deep to the 22 resulting in nil points. Will the game follow the pattern of the series so far and SA dominate the second half?
Strong refereeing performance so far. Amazing how much less aggro there is without Faf on the pitch.
Ah, TMO check...

Not camera angle...now there's a shock.
The SA camera work is truly awful.

Well we definitely had the better of that half, without getting the reward on the scoreboard.
I am encouraged by the way we are playing though and we have some players coming off the bench who will buy into that game plan.
All to play for.

My only hope now is that Gatland doesn't tell Finn to reign it in...
They have looked so much better with him testing the Boks defense.

Sounds like a cracker of a match...
Unfortunately I don't have TV coverage of this so have to rely on text - and the wisdom of those on here of course
Will have to stick to the cricket and read this thread later...

Re: South Africa vs British and Irish Lions 7th August
Don't know how the ref missed us being off our feet at that last breakdown. Ball had clearly left the ruck, very lucky for us and Lawes.
Lions attack looks massively improved with Russell in at 10. Adds a level of unpredictability that stops Am just picking off our backs moves.

Re: South Africa vs British and Irish Lions 7th August
Should be out of sight.
Williams 2 or 1 a shocker and curry needlessly going in front of that ruck. So silly
If we keep this up then we have a chance
Russel making a huge difference since on
Vdm showing what he can do with ball in hand
Itogi having another good game
Come on keep it up

He's getting mullered in contact but that offload for Itoje was top drawer. He's definitely employing the top two inches well.

That ruck was going over before curry went 3 yards in front of it
At least curry had his first turnover in the 3 tests at the end

Not sure he is getting mullered in contact myself, think he has been solid and taking the ball up regularly.
My point was, he is not only calling the forward defense but the backs defense as well.
He is having a stormer.

He may tell him all he likes, this is Finn's probable only shot at this, I think he will just play his own game. It seems to be working in any case!

No need to bash on individual players. The Lions are right in this and no one player is messing things up. If anything I've seen a lot of positives from all the players so far and the second half is going to be a really tense encounter. Credit has to go to the SA defence, they've done very well to hold off the Lions and won some excellent turnovers.

I don’t think I’ll ever be convinced that’s not a shoulder charge clear out, no matter how low it is. There’s no arm involved. It’s also around shoulder height on Wyn Jones.
