SURREY VS LEICESTERSHIRE ROYAL LONDON CUP
SURREY HAVE NAMED A SQUAD OF 14 TO TRAVEL TO LEICESTERSHIRE IN THE ROYAL LONDON CUP ON SATURDAY, INCLUDING NEW SIGNING CAMERON STEEL FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Steel, who contracted Covid 19 shortly after joining and has since been recovering, is a leg spinner and top order batter.
Hashim Amla failed a late fitness test on his groin on Thursday morning ahead of Surrey’s meeting with Somerset and will not travel for this match.
Jamie Smith will continue as captain in his absence.
Ben Foakes is still recovering from his hamstring injury.
FULL SQUAD:
Jamie Smith (c)
Rikki Clarke
Tim David
Matt Dunn
Ben Geddes
Nicholas Kimber
Conor McKerr
Daniel Moriarty
Ryan Patel
Nico Reifer
Cameron Steel
Mark Stoneman
James Taylor
Amar Virdi
Maybe steel in for McKerr as judging by yesterday there seems to be a lack of trust in him?
otherwise maybe Kimber
Over to you chaps

Cheers, JimBob.
I reckon Steel will come in for Reifer. Although Kimber was expensive (as he was against Glamorgan), his two Somerset wickets yesterday may save him. I think it was more Smith mucking up by giving too many overs to Kimber and Patel rather than not trusting McKerr.

yeah maybe Guildford but he was the sixth bowling change at Glamorgan and 5th yesterday so clearly something isn't rightguildfordbat wrote:Cheers, JimBob.

Re: SURREY VS LEICESTERSHIRE ROYAL LONDON CUP
Surrey win toss and field. Definitely right decision with bad weather about*. Must be much better in Leics than here to be starting on time!
Kimber (knee) and Stoneman not playing as Taylor and Steel come in. Stoneman reported to be sitting this one out as a precautionary measure as he felt slightly unwell this morning.
* Although we we were unfortunate not to face 10 overs against Somerset and get the win, I didn't fancy us scoring 220 odd if the game had run its full course.

Cheers Jimbob, well what a strange inns, great bowling from Steel, but the usual garbage from the likes of McKerr, at 192-8 we had a chance of chasing a 4 an over target, but with extras and dreadful bowling, it's more than 5 an over, why didn't Clarke come back? Hopefully proved wrong but can't see that fragile batting line up winning this

Very much with Goochie there.
22 runs conceded in wides and no balls. That's unacceptable.
I don't see our batting line up - particularly with Amla and Stoneman missing - knocking off 250 odd. Feel our best chance is some rain causing a reduction in the number of overs and a DLS target.

Re: SURREY VS LEICESTERSHIRE ROYAL LONDON CUP
No way we would have made 254.
The Leics commentator doesn’t understand how weak our batting is.
18 off 18 ....

Great effort by McKerr to run out Clarke but saved by Griffiths!

Re: SURREY VS LEICESTERSHIRE ROYAL LONDON CUP
Carrying too many players...an overseas batsman as a specialist number 7?? Riefer was a walking wicket, and the tail is non existent, when you look at the runs their 9/10/11 scored, McKerr can't play again, Dunn is nearly 30 he's not going to get any better than incompetent now

Re: SURREY VS LEICESTERSHIRE ROYAL LONDON CUP
Appalling display - letting their last 2 add 30-odd in the last few overs then our tail's non-display. Still, we have been hit hardest by the 100 and injuries - hardly any of that 11 would normally have been playing. Also, how does D/L make us need just 27 less off 11 less overs?

Re: SURREY VS LEICESTERSHIRE ROYAL LONDON CUP
Very poor batting by Surrey. Geddes was daft in getting stumped when he just needed to support Patel. Reifer and David were no better when they needed to stay with Clarke.
As Goochie said earlier, we were also bad with the ball in letting their tail wag.
Not happy. Not happy at all.

good question Dave it seems to have been against us 3 times on the bounce now.kingdaveeagle wrote: Also, how does D/L make us need just 27 less off 11 less overs?
Notts 10 runs taken off our total, Somerset needing over 6 a over when we went back out after the rain break, before it, it was 4 and now today.
