Van Der Sar cost Fulham £7.5M you got a bargain. Was already regarded as one of the worlds top gks

Evra had just been made 1st choice French Fullback when you signed him.

Anyway Cantona? Ed Van Der Sar. Rio Ferd was a regular in the England team when Man Utd signed Him. Barthez? Roy Keane? Jaap Stam? Van Nistelrooy? Evra?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cantona, was a hot head who always had problems he needed a manager that could control his temper. A talented player but if you looked at his career he didn't stay at a club for that long. He was not classed as top top class as you call it before he joined Man Utd.

VDS brilliant keeper and it's only because he joined from Fulham and cost very little people don't go on about his status as being one of the greatest at that time.

Ferdinand was an England player but he wasn't what you call a top top class layer at that time, Man Utd paid £30m for him because it was a tarsnfer between Man Utd and Leeds, they bought him for £18m, English player. Like Rooney it was for his potential and young age we paid a lot for him.

Barthez was classed probably among the best keepers in the world but he was a funny old guy, made some massive blunders but at the same time made the best save you'll ever see. With keepers it's diffrent because thier are not that many top top class around.

Roy Keane, hmm yes a British transfer record but he was playing for a relagated team at the time, he may have been well known in England but outside not many knew him. I don't think he played in Europe before he played for Man Utd.

Stam was bought from the Dutch league and everyone says you have to prove it in the top leagues before you can claim to be the best )We all sayit here except Fan) I wouldn't have classed him anywhere near the great defenders in Italy at that time and probably England and I think others would agree.

Didn't Kezman have a similar goalscoring record as RVN? Ronaldo, Raul, Shevchenko, Shearer, Del Piero, Inzaghi are just some strikers I can think of who were better then him at the time.

Evra, it was after the European 2004 final that Evra got his look in the French team but he was far from being a regular at that time. It took him a long time to become thier first team left back as the manager prefered Abidal think it was 2008.

At Man Utd is where they improved and became the players they are known as. An I don't think many people would have classed them as "Top, top class players" when they signed for United.

Alrite chaps. Wife is okay, just a stomach upset, but not easy to look after a 2 year old by yourself when you feel like that.

At home now, but still having to work, but this time with a toddler running around in the background.

Agree on most of them but british transfer records for Rio, Keane have to mean something.
VDS & Barthez were regarded as top class throughout Europe before you signed them. Real Madrid were interested in Ruud when you signed him and Jaap Stam/Cantona had over 20 International caps before you signed. In those days teams didnt dish out international caps so easily.

VDS & Barthez were regarded as top class throughout Europe before you signed them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK Agree with that.

british transfer records for Rio, Keane have to mean something.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like Andy Carolls £35m transfer must mean he is in the top, top class bracket? Nope, it is more then just a players ability that are taken into consideration when he is bought. Like I said Ferdinand was a good young player but do you honestly say he was better then Desailly, Stam, Thuram, Cannvaro, Malidini, Nesta, at the time no he wasn't. I explained why his transfer was so high. Keane was no where near the top top class European players at that time, did he even play in Europe? How can you be a top top class player when you are not even playing at the weakest European cup competition?

Real Madrid were interested in Ruud when you signed him and Jaap Stam/Cantona had over 20 International caps before you signed. In those days teams didnt dish out international caps so easily.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Van Nistelrooy was always going to be a risky signing, players score for fun in Holland but playing in the other leagues is much harder. He adapated to England and after two seasons he was classed as one of the best strikers in the world. How many players playing in Holland are classed as top, top class players? Not many, they become rated when they join a bigger club outside of Holland play well there.

Again with Stam it's the same thing, he was a fantastic player but in Holland it was only till he played for Man Utd and proved that he can hack it at a massive club he was given the top top class stamp of approval.

Cantona is talented to the Pepsi Max but he also was a loose cannon, who needed someone to handle him, players, attitude and temprement are also included when talking about how good they are. Where was it that Cantona was known as a top, top class player? That means being named in the same company as the best strikers at that time? Marseille? Leeds? Bordeaux?

I'm sorry for using "Top, top class" so many times but that is what you said Smarts about United signing that quality of player. Just face it United take thier players from potential or good to outstanding players who are rated among the world. Actually forget it please don't Ferguson only buys players that are in thier prime and they need to tuning from Man Utd.

Viva in those days I think you will find players in Holland were considered top class players.
The Ajax team with Kluivert, Seedorf etc they were already considered top class. The De Boer brothers etc
I think you forget how football has changed over the years. In the days of these signings like Rio Ferd only a few teams had that cash. These days prices are inflated because more teams are loaded. Also due to the fact the CL and Eufa were not so many teams entered you could be considered a top class player without playing in Europe.

I didn't say Dutch players, I said players that play in Holland and mose of these guys left Holland to step up to the next level. We are going past the topic.

Fact is Rio Ferdinand was not a top, top class defender when Man Utd bought him ask anyone on here. Yes a very good defender but let me ask you was he better then Nesta? Thuram? Campbell? Desailly no way Jose.

An Keane was playing for Nottingham Forest, he was not an established top, top class back then. Again ask anyone if Roy Keane was one of the best midfielders in the world at that time or as you call it it top, top class.

Mark Hughes??? He was from Manchester United system.

Unless you on about the second coming (Who was classed as a failure in Europe) , but would you really class him in the same breath as Van Basten, Maradona or other top, top class strikers from that era?

I meant Kings Of Leon concert, you did say your daughter will be attending their concert.

I'm suprised you're asking me, considering you were born in the 50's where it's all about hard work and struggle, when 10 of you slept on a bed, when meat was once a month treat, you could only have bath once a week, when kids worked for something they wanted. But yeah I think parents to need to get more strict with thier kids and they should be allowed to spank thier child if he/she is out of control.

Lacking a DM to help you out, got some wingers and striker, but not sure you would be interested.

The player I have available for sale/loan are:
Serge Aurier
Titus Bramble
Marcos Angeleri
Angelo Ogbonna
Cheikh M'bengue
Marco Parolo
Steven Pienaar
Cristian Riveros
Ross Barkley
Javier Saviola
Fraizer Campbell
Adrian - young Spanish who has moved to Atletico IRL and has scored 5 goals in 4 games in the U21 championships
Emmanuel Riviere - can play striker or winger
