Very odd kick off times!!! Mind a 2:45 kick off on a Friday afternoon would be great, few beers after & still be home early doors.

Useful looking Bath side with a whole raft of players coming back from injury. If only Bath could consistently pick this side....

Impact players: 16 Niall Annett, 17 Valeriy Morozov, 18 Will Stuart, 19 Quinn Roux, 20 Fergus Lee-Warner, 21 Louis Schreuder, 22 Orlando Bailey, 23 Chris Cloete

By the way, I still don't understand why there are two games played at the same time. Staggering the kickoff times would translate directly to more Rugby on tv.
It sure seems that people who are supposed to be building the Rugby business are the progeny of a relationship between brother and sister.

Gee, Gloucester Quins is a surprisingly unexciting match. Despite a fair amount of back and forth. Guess I will switch over to Brizzle-Nuke.

BT have only paid for a certain number over the course of the season, translates to roughly 3 a week. I don't know why both sides don't get around the table and thrash out the deal to cover more unless there's evidence to suggest televised games have smaller crowds.

Re: Premiership Rugby Round 17
The late and somewhat lamented Super Rugby had a policy that no games should overlap due to their desire to maximise their viewership. And I guess they didn't see a down side because they kept the policy for over 20 years until the end. Makes sense to me. And I agree this should be a no brainer for both sides.formerly known as Sam wrote:doctor_grey wrote:By the way, I still don't understand why there are two games played at the same time. Saints player maybe also lucky not to have what could have been a tip tackle properly looked at, by which I mean Ms Hodnett was the one that looked ...

Re: Premiership Rugby Round 17
Warr landed on his back per the replay. Was probably only a penalty.
Sale are looking really good even down to 14, Manu was really stupid and it's going to see him miss the rest of 6N. Could open the door to Seb Atkinson who was great for Glaws last night and made 22 tackles with Quins trying to target him. Playing against Big Andre as well who'd be a regular international 12 if he was from any nation other than SA.

Pen only yes and didn't matter as try was scored - however Ms Hodnett waved it away completely which is the worry as at another point that could be important ...

They're bigging up the big comeback ignoring the fact that Saints have had an extra player for most of the match and 2 extra for the last 10 mins ....

Sale are my least favourite team but tbh without the (correct) red card it would probably have been a cricket score.

Re: Premiership Rugby Round 17
I'm still struggling with the Saints try from a flying wedge off the line out compared to the one disallowed for Sale ... then add in a couple of clear forward passes missed which ultimateley ended in a try. Saints were very lucky even taking Manu's deserved red card out of the equation.

Fine to cheer the win (probably with relief) but the commentators are making a meal of the 'comeback' given the extra man/men and some of the dodgy calls by the officials ...

Fair enough! But we don't get a lot of wins so we takes what we gets. Besides, I wasn't cheering too loudly. And I doubt you could hear what we were saying from here.....No 7&1/2 wrote:doctor_grey wrote:Why?No 7&1/2 wrote:I'd be slightly embarrassed to cheer that loudly if I was a Northampton fan.

Did you see Ribbans (man of the match - again) in his post-match interview? First question was about the win. He looked very sheepishly into the camera and after a second or two said, "well, a win is a win" clearly acknowledging Saints were verrrry lucky.

Real shame he's off at the end of the season. Don't know why he hasn't had a look in for England albeit chessum is class.

Re: Premiership Rugby Round 17
I really don't know what keeps Ribbans out of the England squad. He does all the donkey work and does it well. Chessum is good and will likely be an England regular for years to come, but he can't handle the ball as well as Ribbans. They should all be in the mix. Perhaps Ribbans would be a terrific impact player off the bench, though he can and does go the full 80 regularly. And Eddie Jones preferred Jonny Hill.......No 7&1/2 wrote:Real shame he's off at the end of the season. Don't know why he hasn't had a look in for England albeit chessum is class.

It's the Achilles Heel that's likely to cost them at the business end of the season.
The Tempo/Hodnett combo were their usual terrifying level of inconsistent incompetence. Didn't stop a very good end to end game coming about though may have assisted the result. Manu ultimately cost his team though and the officials got that spot on, playing for so long at such a tempo with 14 was always going to be a big ask.

Re: Premiership Rugby Round 17
I was surprised Sale managed to stay on top for so long with only 13/14 men. Still no doubt in my mind Ms Hodnett was key in changing the result again ALA Irish v Quins, although of course the ref has to also take his share of the rap for that.

Looks like Bath have....disappointing!
Consistent combinations need to stay in place but Paddy Jackson was a difference yesterday. Bath FH's currently aren't good enough.
