It feels like momentum is with Aus but Wales are up on the board. Very Gatland.

That's a 6 pt turnaround for Australia
They won't win the game playing like that!

So here’s the question.
What nation will touch jones with a bargepole after the World Cup?
And for 2 bonus points, who will be mad enough to take on the Ozzie job?

Game started off at 100 mph and looked like it would be a cracker but fizzling out a bit due to Oz lack of accuracy ...

Unfortunately, Australia are our bogey team. 10 point lead is not enough - look what happened when we were leading in the last November internationals

Not taking the 3 points right in front of the posts that early in the match was just dumb and made worse by not even jumping for their own line-out.

Wales defence looks good too - can't see Oz breaking through it much unless they sharpen up a lot in the 2nd half

Australia heading for their earliest ever exit at a World Cup. Should be the end of Jones' career, by rights.

Re: Rugby World Cup - other team/games and general chat
Ever since that call to go to the corner Oz have been so poor. Wales have played a smart game plan and just let Australia keep making mistakes.
It's been a really odd game. Australia have largely tried to run it whilst barely firing a shot.

Game over and taxi for Eddie maybe
One thing I don't like is how matey Barnes is with players, all first name terms mainly with Welsh players probably as he knows them more than Aus.
It's great to have a good rapport but I'd rather he just said "use it 9" rather than Gareth etc.
A minor irritation but it does irk. No issues with his reffing though

Slipper going off has been the final death knell here. The Oz scrum went from on top to hopeless.
With that advantage Wales have controlled the game excellently. Anscombe has been really good since coming on, as has Davies throughout.

So looks like Wales v Argentina (winners to play Ireland/New Zealand) and England v Fiji (winners to play France/South Africa) will be the other two QFs, barring upsets.
Seems somewhat concerning the pool stages are mostly over as a contest, with two weekends left. Only Argentina/Japan and Scotland/Ireland look like they have the potential, and it's a slim potential, for upsetting the current order of things.

Wales' biggest win over Australia in history...25 points. Looks like that's getting eclipsed.

I'm starting to think that it wasn't a stupid move by England to get shot of him so close to a world cup.

Four very tight QFs, then two SFs which will each have a strong favourite.
But those QFs are going to be a treat. Could make a realistic case for every team in their respective match-ups.

If memory serve me correctly SA's 3 potential knockout opponents are the 3 sides they beat in the semifinals in each of their world cup wins.

If Georgia get points vs wales or Fiji, which is entirely possible, they could finish 3rd and qualify for the next World Cup.

Well done to Wales. I thought this would be close, but Australia were as bad as I've ever seen them, and Wales were accurate and executed their game plan well.
Wonder if Portugal can give Aus a few worries? I do worry for the state of the game in Australia, which appears to be in decline and this shambles of a World Cup isn't going to do it any favours.
