One dark snowy night in Sycamore, Illinois in 1957.....7 year old Maria ridulph was playing outside her house around 6.30pm with her friend....We know this because her Parents remember what they watching....A teenage boy approximately 18 years old came over and started talking to them his name was Johnny....Maria's friend went in to her house to get a doll.....That was the last anybody ever saw of poor Maria apart from two sets of footsteps down the road leading to the park...turning in to one set through the gates.....Maria's dead body was found days later.....

Years later a Mrs Tessier was on her deathbed in the hospital and she started shouting to the Nurses "My Son Johnny killed the little girl and I didn't tell anybody"......Her daughters were also witness to this..(The Tessiers lived a bloc away from the Ridulphs)....The Tessier daughters also believed Johnny to be the killer as he had allegedly been abusive to them......They went to the authorities...

The police showed a picture of a young Johnny Tessier to Maria's friend who had an ingrained picture of the boy in her head (Her parents had always told her she must remember him just in case) She said "That's him I'd never forget his face".......A concerted effort began to bring Johnny Tessier to justice (He now lived in Vegas)....

All possible serial killers and all other suspects had been ruled out for the crime...

Problem is at 6pm on the night of the murder Tessier was in the neighboring Town enrolling for the Army with definitive proof.....and however much the Cops tried to drive to the scene of the crime they found it impossible to get there at the time "Johnny" encountered Maria and it was also a snowy night.......Tessier had also past a polygraph test taken by the FBI a week after the murder...

Tessier who was a photographer had been in trouble over the years with alleged offences towards his subjects......Many regarded him as a pervert or worse....

However his "family" adored him........He was surprisingly found guilty of Maria Ridulph's murder a few years ago but it got thrown out pretty soon after.....The problem is no one can be in two places at the same time............

"The Footsteps in the Snow"......We know who did it....Problem is he couldn't have !!.....The most baffling murder in US history is destined to go on baffling it seems..
