SURREY VS LANCASHIRE HOME LV= COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE 2024

Surrey have named a 14 man squad for the for the LV=Insurance County Championship game against Lancashire starting on Thursday 22nd August at the kia oval.
Sam Curran and Will Jacks are named in a red ball squad for the first time this year.
Ben Geddes and Conor McKerr return to the squad after being left out against Essex.
Jamie Overton is named in a red ball squad for the first time since April.
Sai Sudharsan has signed on for the next two games.
There is no place in the squad for Matt Dunn, Josh Blake or James Taylor
Gus Atkinson, Dan Lawrence, Jamie Smith and Ollie Pope are away with England.

Have to say really disappointed that Josh Blake has been overlooked after a excellent one day campaign

Yeah, if Overton isn't right to bowl as was a fear, why name him originally?

Meanwhile, 16 year old Rocky Flintoff makes his Championship debut for Lancs.
Even with four of our guys in the Test side, on paper we're the stronger side but it ain't played ... ok, you know!

3 wickets but still a disappointing morning for Surrey as they dropped catches and allowed Lancs to reach 98. In the conditions, the batting side should be the happier.

Worrall the best of the bowlers with a particularly impressive opening spell of 7-3-9-1. Sam bowled tidily and had Bohannon dropped but only sent down 4 overs - hope that's not some daft ECB restriction.

Young Rocky playing with a maturity way beyond his years and making the most of his life to reach lunch on 32*.

Good jinx and I'm claiming my share of Rocky's wicket as Clark gets him immediately after lunch.

A lot better from Surrey in the middle session to dismiss Lancs. Worrall my pick of the bowlers with 3 tidy wickets in contrast to Clark's more costly fourfer.

Decent start in reply by Sibley and Goochie's mate as they bring up 50 without loss in the 15th.

Yes would like to see them push on now - with some weather around next two days, best to make hay while the going is good!

Surprised we didn’t declare once we’d had 110 overs. Seemed a waste of time and overs to carry on with a substantial lead achieved and no more bonus points available.
And why did play end after we had bowled only 5 balls?

Well, well, well, I go away to watch Jamie Smith get his maiden ton and an England win and look what happens! As jimbob says, we should've got maximum batting points from the position we were in, but it's a massive lead we've now got after our 7th win
