SURREY VS NOTTINGHAMSHIRE AWAY LV=COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE 2024

Surrey have named a 13 man squad for the LV=Insurance County Championship game against Nottinghamshire starting on Thursday 29th August at Trent Bridge.
Kemar Roach has returned for the final four championship games.
Ben Geddes and Sam Curran drop out of the squad that was named against Lancashire.
There is no place in the squad for Matt Dunn, Josh Blake or James Taylor
Sai Sudharsan plays his final game for surrey this season.
This weekend’s match will be played with a kookaburra ball. The next game away at Somerset will also be played with a kookaburra ball.

Guessing Sam Curran who has a central contract is being rested upon ECB orders while Will Jacks who doesn't have a central contract is available for this match even though both are in the England t20 squad for next month's games. Would have been nice for the Club to tell us!

Other than Roach for Sam, I'll say we'll go with the same team that thrashed Lancs. JOve though has a chance to replace the out of form Lawes whilst I believe this match is being played with a Kooka ball. If I'm right about the ball, that could bring Steel into consideration as he had success with it early season. Still hard to see who he would replace.

Even though Notts are in the drop zone, I think this'll be a harder game than against Lancs. They (Lancs) were pathetic at the Oval and I would guess there's some internal conflicts going on there with several senior players not playing. In contrast, most of Notts' batters are averaging 40+. Notts' weakness appears to be with the ball. Pennington is crocked and Paterson is on paternity leave whilst regular favourites like Brett Hutton and 'Norman Stanley' Fletcher have lacked fitness and form this season.

Yep, agree with that. Rather odd day. We've been on top all the day but haven't made it properly count.

Meanwhile, Somerset and Essex doing well in their games. In Essex's case, that's despite on loan Amar Virdi smashing 42 -including 2 sixes off Harmer - for Worcs against them.

elsewhere today Josh Blake finished on 210* against Yorkshire for the stiffs. i said in the previous game he really is unlucky when it comes to red ball selection.
also Jason Roy has gone to the Cpl and will miss the quarter final next Tuesday

Farhan Ahmed looks like some prospect. Only 16 and going at less 2.5 an over on a Day 1 pitch against the best team in the country - whilst taking 4 wickets, including three Test match batters.

Bizarre from Surrey this morning,left it too late again to make any effort at getting the 4th batting point, then just wasting time after the 110th over now as we crawl along dominated by a 16yo debutant!
