Favorite Goal Ever
A little spin off of the best header ever thread below.
What's your favorite goal ever?
It can be the best goal for technical brilliance, a specific memory or a goal that changed an important game for your team.
Here is my favorite goal;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV-jPXfM0X0
Sone Aluko's goal against Bayern Munich in the Uefa Cup. We drew 2-2, we were going mental after scoring one goal but to go in front twice was something else. The crowd were just bouncing. The goal itself is a cracker, great close control and finish. One of the best nights of my life. Fantastic!
Over to you ..

Re: Favorite Goal Ever
Hmmm...tricky one. I can't pick just one so I'm cheating and picking one based on each of your three criteria.
Technical brilliance - Van Basten (Holland vs USSR, 1988): with that unbelievable, unrepeatable volley!
Specific memory - Alan Shearer (England vs Holland, 1996): think it was his second, but Sheringham laid it off and he spanked it into the top corner. Was the first match I ever remember sitting all the way through, and the one that got me into football full stop.
Important goal - Tevez (West Ham vs Manchester United, 2007): the goal that kept us up and summed up the hard working, skilful and irrepressable Tevez. Still a legend for me, and he only played one season!

Re: Favorite Goal Ever
Ivano Bonetti versus West Brom in 1995. I had to google it to find the year, and came across this, which describes it much better than I ever could.
"Ivano Bonetti is still fondly remembered by Grimsby Town fans and quite rightly so. Not only did he bring a touch of glamour and flair to the usually mundane north-east of Lincolnshire, but he also scored the winning goal against a West Brom side packed with star players and managed by an internationally renowned leader of men. OK, so I have exaggerated that last statement somewhat, but for those of us who remember, Ivano did the business against a wandering Al and his fellow deserters on 11 November 1995.
If memory serves me correctly, this was Lord Buckley's second visit back to BP since he defected in October 1994. The previous visit was not a joyous occasion as Town went down 0-2. It was payback time.
Town went into the game off the back of home wins against Stoke and Barnsley and a more than creditable 2-2 draw away at Ipswich. The town was buzzing at the prospect of the Albion game and I recall an electric atmosphere at Blundell Park.
Ivano had joined the Mariners two months before the game and had already established himself as a cult hero. The fact that the player himself had paid half of the £100,000 fee that his management company required for his services saw to this (the other £50,000 having been raised by the fans), but his silky skills equally endeared him to the Town faithful.
I don't actually recall that much about the game (due partly to lengthy visits to the Imp both pre- and post-match and partly to memory block brought on by my recent 30th birthday) but I do remember that Ivano sealed the win that meant so much to us all with a fine finish on the volley. It was a great goal which, I have no doubt, was made even greater by the circumstances surrounding it and for the fact that it was Bonetti who grabbed it.
Unfortunately for us all, our Italian love affair was ended abruptly in February 1996 by Brian Laws' uncanny accuracy with a plate of chicken wings. Hitting Ivano full in the face and breaking his cheekbone after a league defeat at Luton (who we had beaten 7-1 in the cup a month earlier). It was not surprising that the man from Brescia left for Tranmere at the end of the season."

Re: Favorite Goal Ever
Not from a player from Liverpool, but I always think this goal is truly amazing;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbASd5CU3H8
I love the fact he starts celebrating as it is has left his boot, not even in the goal yet. True class.
Favourite Liverpool goal:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSwilt4kfFM
The whole situation of the goal was just amazing as well, last minute of the game, we have gone a goal down already, need to win 3-1 to even progress out of our Champions League group, and then he wins us the game like that. The season was 2004/05, and I'm sure everybody knows the rest of the story.

Almost forgot to add Bergkamp's goal vs Argentina in WC 98. The way he brought it down, slipped his man and finished...wow.
Great call from Electric Demon on the Suker goal, I remember Poborsky scoring a similarly wonderful goal in that same tournament.

Michael Owen V Argentina (France 98)
I don't think I have ever been as amazed as when I witnessed this. The touch, the pace, the audacity and the sublime finish. A star was born that night.

Manning, I won a ticket to the England v Greece game, free meal beforehand and as much champagne as I wanted afterwards. Fantastic day!

Must have been a great day Hero.
It still makes me laugh that one of England's best reults in my lifetime was a 2-2 draw with Greece.

Re: Favorite Goal Ever
Dean Saunders. A goalkeeper (can't remember who) had touched the ball out for a throw in and Saunders picked it up in a flash and threw it against the 'keeper's back as he began to run back to his goal.
The ball bounced back to Saunders and he lobbed it into the open goal. Genius.
Sorry I can't provide a link but I'm in China. It must be on youtube though.

Imagine being at the Bury game, laughing at what happened and then realising you are losing because of it. There is a big screen in the corner and all the subs were watching and laughing at it at half time instead of warming up!

For sheer joy its either Gazza's v Scotland or Owens Hat trick goal in the 5-1 game. I'll never forgot the split second silence in the packed pub when he shot and the ball bulging the net and entire place erupting!
