shmall bawl
Interim v West Evil
Cark V The Asian Champs
Junkies Vs tribesmen
An Clar vs Tipp
Futble
Derry Hi Vs Our Ma
Tv Offerings is the leinster hurling and the ulster football.
qualifier game from casement could be close
cork should beat laois handily enough
Dublin to beat Galway....but you never know what Galway will show up and the dubs have shown they can be a bit flaky too.
Tipperary to beat Clare. I think Clare are still a year or so away from having a really good side again. That will be good for the game in general.
Armagh to beat Derry...if the form book is anything to go by.

And cari, cads was named on the starting 15. I thought we might experiment a bit more but there are a few lads sitting their exams at the minute, so it seems a similar side.

Thanks Rebel
Just watching last week's Sunday Game. More controversial red cards in the Donegal match. The Limerick game was superb, shame they lost it in the dying minutes really.

Hope your ma have got carried away with themselves after the last day out. Yes it is sour grapes!
Derry have been very much under the radar so not sure what the expectation of them should be. Would be nice to get a 2nd decent game in Ulster this year.
Stroll for Cork
Would like to see Antrim win
Hope the Dub small ball revival continues
Its a long, long way from here to Clare (unfortunately)

Problems in the FB line before next week. Cadogan has a game with Douglas before Offaly next week. Serious danger of burnout imo.

Pepples? Sound's like something a girl would call her dog.
10-20 is some scoreline, can't recall seeing ten goal's from a team in champ.

Can't Douglas let him go under the circumstances? Have they got a replacement for him?

10-20 has to be a record. Cads wll play with his club. Think we should be able to cope with Offaly anyway.

He's a liability in the fb line IMO. Get him out to half back where he started, drop Brian Murphy back to his proper position in the corner and maybe slot Shane O'Neill on fullback. Eoin Dillon could also be a serious option there.
Burn-out could be a serious issue. Except the week of the game against Clare he's probably played every week for club or county since he has been back from suspension. It's a shame to say it but he could soon have to choose between the two. The game is on Monday i think which isnt ideal.
Sorry Cari there isnt a hope that Douglas could do without him. He's there only inter-county player and after there performance last weekend they could be in big trouble.

they shouldn;t have to do without him either.
There can't be too many dual players out there with ambitions of playing both codes into august. I understand him wanting to play all the time, anyone would at that age, but he needs to be reigned it if he has any hope of longevity as a dual player. Today is the first time it has really raised an eybrow tbh.
and yeah put him in the half backs.
O'Neill ---Murphy----- McDonnell
Gardiner---- Cadogan---- Egan
something like that. Ronan curran misses out in that line up but he can be fitted in. he's a fine hurler too.
Brendan Farrelly has resigned. he was moaning about players opting out, a small player pool and the problems that come with that. a hiding was inevitable after that revelation. An annihilation was maybe not so expected.

That would be about right. Maybe Egan could push on into midfield for Curran?
Curran played centre-forward for the Barrs in championship last weekend. Could there be a Brian Corcaran-eusqe move on the cards?
Thats true regarding Farrelly but its still a big turnaround from last year when Douglas gave us a good beating in the first round.

I wouldn't mind seeing that at all. a bit of competition about the place anyway. The ray ryan project is dead in the water thank God.
Hundreds of people in the queue outside the ground waiting to get in. hard to feel sorry when it is the Dubs involved...and yet I knida do.
GOAL
Joe Canning. His man, Thomas Brady went up for the ball and is injured. Canning didn't need to be asked twice. In the clear and whacking it in the net from an angle. Brady wants to carry on but you don't want an injured man on Joe. I'd be isolating him even more till they have to make the change

Galway are fouling their man and fouling the ball like crazy. The Dubs are all over them like a rash. 0-6 (5frees) to 1-1 at the minute. Dublin have the wind that should be worth a couple of points.
They just got a monster free
dubs pulled for a throw ball.....it wasn't

Canning hit a wide.
It looked a point to me.
the umpires called it wide.
then the ref came over and made the umpires cross flags to indicate that it wasn't a score......although they had already done it.
TV showed it was wide on the replay. Right call but an odd way of doing it.
Not a good game. it is very disappointing.

The dubs get 5 scores on the spin. including a cracker from O'Callaghan and two from Keaney.
lets see what this wind is worth......7 points?
0-12 to 1-2 at HT
Canning missed a few frees.....very odd.

I didn't see it on the replay even when the commentators said "oooh".
I rewound it and caught it on the 3rd time. He deserved to go 100%.
All of a sudden it is game on.

Well played by Dublin but a wounded Kilkenny will be a different animal in a Leinster Final.
Hugely impressed by Liam Rushe in centre back. Hurled a huge amount of ball. Makes you wonder why they have had him in the forwards in recent years.

Galway were a disorganised mess. Rushe was 21 today. He wanted a surfboard but instead got MOTM.
i thought he was good in the forwards but fair play to him, he's made for back there.
Daly was talking up Kilkenny big time. The Dubs will be without a few for the final. I don't expect them to win but I do expect them to have a lash.
As for the qualifiers, i can't imagine Galway will be that poor for the third time in a row. They are always liable to have a lash off someone. i would rather not have them, but that said, they shouldn't hold any fears for anyone.

Fathers day meant that live score was suspended for the derry game.
They smashed our ma all over the shop. they couldn't get good ball into the forwards at all.
3-14 to 1-11.
A surprised to me and I'm living in derry. they were very good.
Clare are off to a flier leading 1-3 to no score. I can't watch too well on tv3.

i forgot to say what wonderful futble Derry played. Eoin Bradley was unmarkable.
mark Lynch had a great game as well.
Brendan Donaghy was great against Brendan Coulter the other week but was cleaned out today.
GOAL....Maher
GOAL.....Corbett
both the same. long balls missed and finished with a boom boom.
3-3 to 1-8 after 21 minutes.
The goals must have been planned, very deliberate placing of the ball.

McGrath scores a goal where the ref failed to play advantage.
Ref calls it back for a 21 yard free, then changes his mind to a penalty.
eoin kelly missed the pen.
Earlier on this year, Tipp got a goal against us when we were clearly fouling. ref played advantage and tipp get a goal.
2 years ago the exact same scenario as above, except this time Tipp were on the other side of it.

goal callinan.
clare have a free. have to go for goal. Clare get the point instead of a goal. everyone had come up a bit for the rebound ....they just never bothered going back.
corbett smashes it off the post and callinan smashes it in......positives all round.
4-19 to 1-19

Re Donaghy
Its easy to be great when
1 Your playing against somebody who isnt 100%
2 Unlike yesterday game your not on a yellow card early on
3 The opposing team comprehensively lose the middle and ball into the forward line is limited.
Thankfully Armagh lost the run of themselves and met a big physical good footballing side with a Manager who could make instant in game decisions to address problems. Derry need another good performance next day out to ensure they are not suffering from Armaghitis.
Anyone for more PUKE football?

Armagh tried a bit of puke when it wasn't going their way. It didn't work because the Derry side were too big, too athletic and too strong to get tied up. Absolutely right on the calls from the sidelines. not slow in making changes are they? Even Mr Brolly was rich in his praise for it.
I think Derry can take either of Donegal or Tyrone at the minute.
puke football was right for its time. Things have moved on a bit now. the blanket has replaced it somewhat. aesthetically both are horrible, but there was at least something physically impressive about the high pressure game. The blanket has given rise to a deep lying possession game for which the team who wants to retain the ball gets the blame. The alternative is catching, kicking and moving which is what we saw from Derry yesterday.
How far have they come on 12 months?!!!

Brolly was at his very pantomime best. If ever I see an orgasm live on tv it cant be far short of Joe outporings yesterday. Brolly use of a french word which he had to explain to all followed by Spillane struggle with the latin was priceless.
I thought the pictures of the Derry huddle after the game clearly showed how much they have moved on in terms of attitude. Derry lways hd gifted individuals, if a team ethic is now there and they get a run it could be a good year.
I think Tyrone or Donegal will have to revert to PUKE to counter them. The question is do Tyrone have the legs for the phyical battle and do Donegal have the heart.

Donegal are fostering a siege mentality, the trouble is that everyone thinks the criticism is justified. They are getting results against limited opposition but when it comes to upping it, that style will surely fail.
I don't know where Tyrone are at the minute. It is really hard to say. My gut tells me that there isn't much left that said, there may be a sting in the dying wasp yet. I don't know why there is such a reticence to bring more players through when we keep seeing and hearing that they are there.

Mickey Harte coul end up doing what Pete McGrath did to Down. Loyalty to an ageing team resulted in a whole generation of footballers losing out and disappearing from County football.
Tyrone position is much stronger now than Down was in the mid to late 90s but even if the conveyor belt of talent continues, it has to be asked how much has been missed and can the generation that missed out be brought in when this group of players finlly die trying on their feet.
