Very nearly paid £15 at about 1:02am this morning, glad I went to bed instead!
As soon as I read there was a new IC and US Champion, I didn't need to scroll down to see Orton and Cena retained. Not that there's anything wrong with that, Truth was never going to win, and Christian has a screwy finish to blame to continue his feud, but would be great if WWE tried something unpredictable for the first time since Nexus debuted.
Money in the Bank PPV is next, so because i'm intregued to see what happens next, WWE have succeeded.

Demon, worded perfectly mate! John Cena really is awful.
Does seem an ok PPV though, i'll hold proper judgement until I have watched the standard of the matches.
I am on the same boat as you though Marky, really unsure what is going to happen at MITB. I really hope that now Barrett doesn't have the Corre and the meaningless Intercontinental title he might be a shout to win the Smackdown briefcase.

I agree with Marky, nothing wrong with Cena and Orton retaining. Truth isn't ready to be champion, and (holds breath awaiting onslaught from IWC) I don't see Christian as one either... yet.
But "goes to ringside and poses with some troops" sounds awful, and can only sound more sickly if immediately proceded by "raises the little boy's hand"
Yuk!

I already see Barrett as a world champion more than Christian.
IMO Barrett was ready during his feud with Cena.

Barrett would make a fantastic champion. The WWE's definition of a heel at the moment seems to be make them as cowardly as possible.
When was the last time the WWE had a 'bad ass' heel champion? Wade Barrett would fit that bill perfectly.

This alone makes this a good PPV!
Immediate reflections:
1. It's great that Ziggler beat Kingston and has won another title - this is the right direction
2. CM Punk getting a win at PPV is huge but with MITB on the horizon not sure what momentum he can build with it - he won't enter (or at least win) MITB as he's already won it twice before; I very much doubt he will be in the main event either!
3. Is the screwy finish to the Christian match really enough to keep this feud fresh? I really can't see this feud going on until SummerSlam. Not at every PPV anyway. Have Christian be knocked down the rankings and work his way up again to chase the title.
4. I have huge doubts over what will become of R-Truth - the WWE have experimented with making many new main eventers in the past but let's look at WWE's recent track record of making new 'stars':
CM Punk - former X3 world champion but now an upper midcarder at best and hasn't won a title in two years.
Jack Swagger - former MITB winner at WM26 but had a tragic world title run that only lasted a few months and has since been made a laughing stock with no real meaningful feuds of which to speak of.
Dolph Ziggler - had a brief stint main eventing SD, held the WHC for less than a night and ended up going from main eventing RR'11 to a throw away match with Snooki at WM27 in which he wasn't even really involved. Finally now he has only just won the US title.
Wade Barrett - former NXT season 1 winner, leader of the Nexus arguably the freshest, most innovative faction in recent WWE history, was given a token IC title run that he's just lost at his first PPV defence if I'm not mistaken?!
Sheamus - a former X2 WWE champion and KOTR winner but has only just regained his main event status on SD after the 'curse' of the KITR losing streak and even still there are no signs that for the time being he will hold another world title.
The only real success story so far has been the Miz but since losing the WWE title we will have to wait and see if he ever regains it.
Now look at who are the two world champions - John Cena and Randy Orton, a X10 and a X7 world champion respectively. I don't hold much hope of R-Truth maintaining his top heel and no.1 contender status.

I actually enjoyed the ppv some decent matches but the fake barrack was over done .
Punk winning was good but what was the decent thing ? maybe find out on RAW .
Christian imo now a good shout to win SD mitb match .
Changing the subject a little but watched US OPEN golf before this and was surprised to see Shane O'mac walking the course with Rory McIlroys dad thought he would be at CP PPV .

Overall, a pretty decent PPV, have to admit I'm glad I don't pay to watch them.
Punk is just downright pushing his luck... Contract on a knife-edge and he comes out and promos about how corrupt politicians are. You watching Linda?
Nice to see him win, possible 3rd MITB for him imo. *fingers crossed*

No way. The leg under the rope is just a way to continue the feud which probably means he'll be in anoooother title match at MITB. I'd love to see Sheamus or Barrett win SD's MITBKINGKENNY7HEAVEN wrote:

After watching Alex Riley v The Miz, it really does make you wonder just how bad John Cena is at making people look in the ring. The Miz's match at Mania was awful and that was because he was in the ring with Cena. Great match up between Riley/Miz and after watching that I do think Riley could be one for the future

It's a tough one, but I think they'll both be involved in the MITB ladder matches at the next PPV and they'll begin to feud again going into Summerslam where I would predict a Miz victory.

Re: WWE Capitol Punishment - Spoilers
It was weird how the crowd chanted USA for Zeke against Barrett when he's not even American and then Zeke followed it up by pretending he actually was in his post match promo. I would have preferred it if Barrett had won but now he's rid of the intercontinental title he can move up to the main event feuds.
Don't know what they're going to do with Christian I thought he was going to win same with Truth against Cena.
The longer Orton and Cena reign as champions the longer WWE is pouring light its own inability to make other championship worthy wrestlers/superstars.

Although one question: Why did Dolph jump really high, to meet Kofi's crossbody? Was that just to lessen the impact?

Just had a quick look at Shanes wiki page and it states hes on the board of International Sports Management Rory McIlroys representatives , so that explains it . While Shane left WWE in jan 2010 he still holds his stock percentage and his voting rights

he often does it against opponents. I remember him doing it when someone does a crossbody from the ropes, or whenever edge gives him a spear. I think he does it to make the move more spectacular, fair play to him

Oh, yeah...I noticed that with the Spears as well, but thought it was just the force from Edge. However, it did look like it hurt once or twice when he was almost speared onto his neck...

It takes two to perform a move and Dolph always sells well, I thought it was a decent PPV, I like the contrast Truth brings to a Cena match/segment, glad Christian was booked strong but it should be the face on the wrong end of unjust decisions not the heel, thats just me though.

Re: WWE Capitol Punishment - Spoilers
Just finished watching & I thought the match quality was very high....
Ziggler & Kingston really have a great thing going together in the ring.
Riley vs Miz was solid enough with a surprise clean win for A Ri
Barrett vs Zeke servicable at best but wirth watching for Barretts promo alone
Show vs Del Rio again not the best but the Mark Henry spot (for Henry anyway) look good
Christian vs Orton decent match as usual with these 2 but getting tried of Ortons invincible Cena style act
Truth vs Cena Absymal ending but hey it's Cena was hoping for some kind of screwy finish to keep the fued going
Obama stuff however was utterly pathetic... Anyone know seriously what it's about? Any of our American cousins know how it's perceived in American mainstream? Didn't they try this with Clinton in the 90's too????

Obama stuff however was utterly pathetic... Anyone know seriously what it's about? Any of our American cousins know how it's perceived in American mainstream? Didn't they try this with Clinton in the 90's too????

Re: WWE Capitol Punishment - Spoilers
It could have something to do with the fact that they put Obama on the posters for the site and had to genuinly release a press statement saying it was simply for advertising purposes and Barack Obama wouldn't actually be appearing, so they were trying to appease all the people who stupidily thought Obama would actually make his WWE debut.

Re: WWE Capitol Punishment - Spoilers
Stayed up for the show last night and I really enjoyed it.
I have been critical of the WWE product and have no shame in saying how much of an Attitude era mark I am but last night was enjoyable.
Ziggler and Kingston have awesome chemistry together and between them they actually bring prestige to the US Title scene.I think Ziggler is a star in the making and his continous feud with Kingston reminds me of how Benoit and Jericho always used to come back to feuding over the IC Title in 2000-2001.
Not 100% sold on Riley but I think he could be a decent midcard face, something that I think WWE is lacking right now.I agree with the poster who said it shows how poor Cena is,I have always been impressed with The Miz and was again last night.Miz is decent in the ring,I recall a triple threat match between him,Morrison and Punk at Survivor Series that showed how good he can be.Very decent match.
Cant stand Ezekiel Jackson and would have rather seen Barrett retain and possibly end up dropping the strap to someone decent like Justin Gabriel before moving onto the world title scene. The IC Title should be with a guy that can work and that most certainly isnt Jackson.Barrett is solid on the mic though and I see good things.
CM Punk and Mysterio was a great contest, they have decent chemistry and so pleased to see Punk get the win.I think he will end up with a WWE Title shot at MITB and ultimately lose but this match was full of good wrestling.
ADR vs Show-Show is a joke but pleased to see ADR get the win and makes him look cerebral and continues to build him up.The guy is pure gold IMO and is a definite world champion in the making.Mark Henry getting involved didnt register much to me but was a nice spot when he slammed Show through the table.
Christian vs Orton was another good match.Alot of good wrestling and Orton pulled off some decent moves that I didnt think him capable of.Glad that Christian was done over in a screwy way as it makes me believe that WWE actually values him as a big player and perhaps another world title run is in the offing.I personally think Sheamus will face Orton at MITB and Christian will win the Smackdown MITB and cash in to defeat Orton that night.
Main Event was dire....R-Truth's VT was awesome and I have praised the guy from day one.I have liked Truth from his days as K-Kwik and Ron Killings in TNA and knew that as a heel he could excel.I really hope that him losing to Cena doesnt mean he is finished because I really believe he should still be there or thereabouts for the coming months.I cant be bothered debating about Cena because to me the guy is pure rubbish but my feelings arent going to change the situation so I learn to live with it.
I would give the PPV a 7/10 and think it was full of some real solid wrestling. The Obama skits were pathetic but all in all I was actually pleased with the show.Hopefully Raw works out well tonight and already looking forward to what may happen at MITB.

Re: WWE Capitol Punishment - Spoilers
Dolph Ziggler v Kofi Kingston was a great way to open the match. I was suprised that Alex Riley beat The Miz but its good that WWE keeps it unpredictable. R Truth is brilliant as always and I am one of these rare types of people in that I dont hate John Cena. I think a heel turn would do him good but I cant see that ever happening. It was good that Mark Henry was allowed to get his revenge on Big Show, as what happened on the previous Smackdown made him look very weak. Hopefully now these 2 can have a proper feud and match as that would be great. Wade Barrett cut a great promo as well.
