Hello 606v2 members
Hi everyone,
I'm another immigrant from the BBC 606 site having posted on there since 2007.
I'm will talk until the cows come home about cricket, rugby (league & union), some football, tennis, athletics, cycling, hockey.
Generally interested in world events, travelling to different countries & cultures, music, art, film and architecture.
Let's hope we can also have some interesting articles on this new site.
cheers,
Linebreaker

Hi all
Brennomac here from the old 606 - too lazy to change my name in honour of the transfer.
Occasional poster but daily reader of 606 for past 2 years - the joys of being self-employed and not having any company firewall preventing my enjoyment(!) of the likes greyghost, the baron et al. Wild Leinster fan - but prepared to give due credit to our southern cousins when they put one over on us (must be down to having a Cork da and a Clare ma.
Watch de Dubs during the summer - now got to get to grips with fact we have a hurling team that declawed the Cats - and probably a better bet for an all-Ireland given the footballers' tendency to do a traditional all blacks choke. Having a Montrealer wife, also into NHL - Allez les Habs! Allez les Bleus! Biggest problem is fitting in all the rugby with other passion - hillwalking - so if any rugby lads out there who fancy a trip to the mountains when there's no rugby on I'm yer man.

Welcome aboard, brennomac. Sounds as though you are going to enrich the board with anecdotal and sporting input.
Great stuff. Enjoy yourself.

Hi Windmill, thanks for kind words. Thought I'd messed up my first post so posted a second biog as few minutes ago. Feel free to spike the second post. God, the problems of being a 50-something technodummy!

You're welcome, mate. As to your being a fifty - something techno dummy, you have my sympathies, since I share the affliction.

I am a Northener, new to this site and never joined the original 606, but have high hopes for this site and wondered if it was taking off, or is it a little 'Dead in the water', so basically i'm sounding out you people to check if its worth the effort ?

Re: Hello 606v2 members
Main plus point of this site is that it's not dominated by one sport only (eg football). There's a fair bit going on with various sports eg rugby union, boxing, tennis, golf, cricket, etc - and a bit of football.....
On the whole there are not too many wums!

With over 2600 users and over 235,000 posts in around 5-6 months - you could say it has already taken off, English Warrior.
I'd recommend you stick around, enjoy the articles, remarks, thoughts and insights from the various posters and make some contributions to it all. You can even engage in some friendly banter which occurs from time to time or learn something new about a particular sport - as I have when following the Tennis/Horse Racing threads in the last week or two. (I wasn't a huge fan of either; but I had a look and sort of got hooked!)
The thing I like about this site is the global network of members who all get along pretty well almost all of the time. The efforts of the founder and admininstrators is something to be proud of too. When you think about it - they have handled the tricky ones firmly and fairly - which isn't a mean feat considering these guys literally put their hands up to create this site when news of BBC 606's demise was indicated earlier in the year.
Also, they go out of their way to make the site easy to use, provide more variety and flexibility than the old BBC 606 in terms of content and format and they are continually reaching out to secure interviews with popular sporting personalities (who often agree to participate in Q & A) which can only be good for devoted sports followers around the world. This is the way to go I believe... going forward.

Hi guys. God bless whomever the brains behind this idea is. You deserve a knighthood. Was wondering where the 606 family would go, and alas.......

Welcome aboard, honkers.
I can't claim any part in the setting up of this forum, but I'd still thank you, on behalf of the admin team, for such a nice compliment.
Hope you enjoy yourself here as much as you clearly did at the Beeb.

I think this thread should be retitled the "react to a comment from over 2 months ago" thread after the last two comments.
Re: Hello 606v2 members
Isn't it nice that some folks are so slow to anger, though?
coxy, from the boxing section, should take note.

I know, it's like a slow simmering volcano. Every now and then a mini eruption occurs.
Still it's nice to hear people introduce themselves on here. All comments appreciated.
OK, I'd better power-vacuum the front doormat now. It's been getting a real work-over!
