Oh bum sorry Staggy...how do you post a spoiler...?

No doesn't appear to have the WC logo on it, so I think it's just a new shirt.

it's a dynamic picture so I don't think it will work as a spoiler.

I have snipped the screen so this might work

The World Cup version will be the same but with no sponsor and likely the Puma logo moved for the RWC logo.

If there's a version available without the "hexagonal bra" bit I reckon it would look pretty good. I definietly prefer it to my least favourite one of all, the one we won the Grand Slam in. And I seem to remember getting over that hatred somehow.

New Ireland Jersey Empty New Strip

Post by GLove39 Fri 01 Jul 2011, 12:11 am

(Apologies if this has already been covered) I was browsing around and went to the IRFU website, and saw the new Ireland strip, seriously what were the designers, thinking / drinking / eating / injecting / inhaling / snorting when they came up with the new design. I'll admit that from what I've seen of other nations RWC strips, they're all fairly odd. But really Puma? Really?
http://www.irishrugby.ie/
I mean what do the hexagonales represent? A kind of mock sports bra? Given that they're slightly connected, maybe set of dumbbells?

Anyhow dear 606 community what do you make of the new Ireland strip? Also which nation gets the prize for worst kit? From what I've heard and seen the new Boks shirt hasn't gone down all that well. And the less said about the Scotland away shorts the better...

Edit: Merging this into the Irishg jersey debate - K devil

Quite nice in the flesh and I like how the home and away jerseys are actually different and not just palette swaps.
The shorts are quite cool too in that they look like boxing shorts with the crest in the waist.

Saw the new red training jersey in the shop last week and I have to admit it's really tasty.

It's has more of a wine / burgandy tint to it than comes across in the photo.

Pity about the big O2 on the front though.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion Sean.

All I'm saying is when you see it in the shop it isn't bad.

And trust me it's not often my head is turned by a jersey.

Mac - I fancied getting a red one - ideal for a Hibernocentric taffy like me Very Happy Unfortunately all the shirts will have the huge O2 on them. You could always sew on some eyes and a mouth in the middle and turn it into a smiley face Very Happy

Oh I don't know Sean. I think the hint of Burgandy adds a touch of class.

Cari - No I'm not a big fan of wearing advert logos on my recreational shirts and that big O2 is a definete no no.

Update.

Actually I walked past the sports shop again at lunch and realised that the one shown here (training shirt) isn't the new one.

This is it.

God the new season can't come quick enough when I'm reduced to discussing new jerseys.

Cari wrote:I really like it - looks almost Welsh! Wink

I have just written a strongly worded letter to both my AM and the First Minister Carwyn Jones. How dare they disrespect 130 years of our culture and our unique heritage furious

In a further development, it has been reported in Wales' self proclaimed national newspaer the Western Fail
''They are thumbing their noses at a Welsh tradition. It's bizarre"

"The decision is certain to ruffle Three feathers and could even spark a diplomatic row”

The iconic Welsh jersey has a 130-year history, dating back to 1881. Wales’ new home strip was offiicially unveiled by Under Armour earlier this month.

Ieuan ap Gwynfor ap Tomos ap Dafydd, spokesman for Abercwmfucem RFC suspected jersey sales were behind the move.
''They do often switch jerseys so people do have to buy the new colour, init butt."

The Welsh rugby public would not be happy, Ieuan ap ..... said.
"I don't think they will throw things, but they will be scornful of Ireland coming into our territory wearing red. Well ok it’s sort of burgundy, it's actually quite tidy looking though."

Irelands move to red also diminished its own proud green history, Ieuan ap ... said.
"They're just blydi crazy mun."
