Jermain Taylor is coming back Empty Jermain Taylor is coming back

Hey guys

Just three days to go till Haye cant wait.

Posted this on me blog but thought i would see what you all thought. Jermain Taylor is looking to have another run at 160 after 2 yrs off. for me this is dangerous to his health and i would rather he had stayed retired. He was one of my fav fighters so i fear someone like Martinez may get hold of him and destroy him. What you guys reckon?

Saw this too. Not sure why he's bothering really, because I fear for his health given his apparent love for the canvas.

Thanks for sharing Seanasurillius.

I'm not all that surprised that Taylor has come back, but I am surprised that he's doing so at 160 lb. Remember reading a couple of interviews with him back in 2007 when he was still Middleweight champion, but was campaigning for a Super-Middleweight bout with Calzaghe, as he said he was a little tight at 160 lb and making the weight was becoming a struggle.

Personally, whether it's Middleweight or Super-Middleweight, I think he's damaged goods and is unlikely to make any serious headway. Like many others, I've always wondered if Taylor's heart is really in boxing since he beat Hopkins - that was six years ago and, the first seven or eight rounds against Froch aside, he's never impressed me since.

A couple of wins over non-descript opposition to ease his way back in, before losing again the next time he steps up a level, with a final retirement coming soon after would be where I'd put my money.

cheers guys

and yes steffan its mine mate, good fun to do actually altho more work than you might think.

I agree wit ht e consensus, Taylor has those gas issues and hehas now taken some serious punishment in defeats to AA and Froch, combine that with inactivity and it could be trouble. I just worry hell look half decent in a returnt hen get pitted against martinez because Taylor is a name and Martinez cant get a big fight at 160. If Taylor gets put in with him it could be a ko loss highlight reel scenario. Shame cos i really like Taylor.

If he can avoid any punchers he'll do OK I think. I still think he'll have the beating of the more technical pure boxer type guys in the Middle and Supermiddle weight divisions it's just he clearly can't live with anyone who can hit. I think him pulling out of the super 6 was a real shame as I could see him causing an upset against Ward and I reckon a lot of people would have like to see that happen, with Ward not being the most loved fighter around.

problem is Taylor has a lot of mileage on the clock already. If he is determined to fight again i hope he is rejuvinated. Problem is the division is bad enough he could win a belt, if he does then he is fodder for AA again who is dropping down or Martinez who lacks decent opponents.Dont want to see him flattened again

just re watched this ko and i have to ask

at what point does this ref think Taylor is not getting up, is it when the doctor practically taps him on the back, or is it when he sees taylors soul drifting toward a bright light?

he counts him almost out

idiotic

Hes taken some fairly savage KO's followed by a long layoff, and I heard he was having memory lapses after AA pancaked him. Surprised hes coming back given that hes got a family and must have made a bit of money. Im afraid hes a prime candidate for coming out of boxing damaged.

It must be about money. Otherwise why risk his life.

The last KO was awful to watch.

Taylor could still give some people a lot of trouble at 160 and 168. It's clear he isn't going to have any joy against anyone who can punch or a pressure fighter but I do believe he could still out box Ward and Dirrell. He should avoid Martinez at all costs though if he heads back to middleweight.
