Tennis Elbow
Morning Everyone,
I seem to have developed a nasty case of tennis elbow. Thought I had tweaked something when I was throwing an american football down at the beach on Saturday but it has got progressively worse. Was playing cricket last night and I couldn't bat or throw due to the pain, which was pretty intense.
Seems to be located in my elbow near where the funny bone is, but spreads down the forearm when I put it under strain by throwing.
Anyone think that this sounds like tennis elbow? If so, what would you recommend me doing? I've got some really important basketball and cricket matches coming up that I really don't want to miss....
Thanks all.

Best thing to do is carry on with your normal activities but avoid anything too strenuous on it (like throwing a football!). Ice it if there is any swelling around the elbow or on the muscle.
I had the exact same problem after I had a game of American Football, took a couple of days but was fine after. My muscles just weren't used to operating that way!

Yeah think mine are the same, although I used to play Quarterback at uni!
Will give it some light training at basketball tonight and see how I get on.

Re: Tennis Elbow
Sounds like it~ it's a bit of a pain[sic] but goes eventually.
Those narrow support things placed just below the elbow help.
Does it hurt when you raise a glass of beer~ mine did.

Haven't tried yet!
It's fine when I'm not exercising it, but once I start playing sport it starts to really ache.
Played basketball tonight with a support sock on it and it worked quite well, much less pain.

Re: Tennis Elbow
With Tennis Elbow sometimes you will get a sore patch on the upper part of your forearm as well, mine lasted a couple of months fortunately my company paid for me to see a physio.
Dont be surprised if it dosen't disappear quickly in some cases it can last quite some time.
As Doon says you can buy a support from most chemists that fits around the elbow there is a pad that pushes on the dip at the back of the elbow it may help but rest it as much as possible and try not to twist the arm ie the action when using a screwdriver.
Best of luck
