How about next year Taker v the steel steps as I think that's about all he'll be able to manage the shape his body is in now. The streak has lost all credibility in my eyes as it epitomises the fact that wrestling is 'scripted'. If Taker was in MMA he'd have been well beaten by now.

Like ive said before id like to see Punk v Taker but even though this imo would be the best chance of getting a good match it wouldnt be realistic for punk to lose to Taker given his poor shape , so if the streak is to continue and i do think it will given it will probabley be Takers last mania then i still come back to Vince v Taker in either singles or with Trip in 3way . Taker beating Vince is believable .

I think as Undertaker is booked as this supernatural character, it is believable that he can beat anybody. I think comparing to what it'd be like in MMA isn't really relevant, as most of the WWE wrestlers would struggle in MMA, they are completely seperate things.

I think there is a huge problem that there just doesn't seem to be a biggest name for 'Taker to end on, if I'm honest, I think the one that makes the most sense would be Kane, but it'd hardly be the greatest match ever, and I think WWE would have to start building Kane up AGAIN.

Wrestling is about suspending your beliefs.

But when taker gets buried alive more times than I've had hot dinners when he's meant to be the dead man,I start to question it!

The streak means nothing to me,it not real. Any other sports its an achievement but streaks in wrestling for me don't really mean much.

Taker has been shot for the last 3 years, one match a year is a joke. Should have retired after the 1st michaels match.

Losing respect for taker more and more every single year.

Surely that should be one match OF THE YEAR, a year. Wink

Haha could well be but that's because they are allowed more time and creative in their matches.

Sorry state of affairs if a guy can only do one match per year and that match is better than the full-time active wrestler can put on.

The last 3 manias have been saved by the taker, just imagine if he wasn't on the cards. It would be a epic fail.

I'm not even a taker fan aswell.

Am I the only one on here who after rewatching WM27 decided that it was actually quite a good show?

Taker vs HHH was brilliant
Orton vs Punk was very good
Miz vs Cena was actually quite good
Cody vs Rey was very good...

Seriously? I'd recommend re-watching it at some point.

Mind you I thought people were far too critical at the time...

Yes it is - Taker may have been booked as a 'dead man' all these years but he is also accredited as being the 'purest striker' in the WWE - a very MMA like reference, he wears MMA gloves in all his matches nowadays and the streak is one of the few marque matches left in the WWE. MMA's selling point is putting two fighters together and seeing who comes off the winner - the biggest PPVs are the ones with unbeaten champions on them like Silva or GSP, guys who have amassed winning streaks. And as for WWE wrestlers struggling in MMA that is a moot point - Lesnar became the UFC world heavyweight champion! Swagger is a collegiate wrestler, as is Ziggler, which is one of the fundamental elements of the UFC; and besides it may be a simulated sport but it still needs to look like a sport. Wins and losses are still important in wrestling. If you're athletic enough to become a WWE wrestler then you have the athleticism to become an MMA fighter. Mark Calaway himself said that if UFC was as big as it is today 20 years ago he would have become a professional mixed martial artist rather than a wrestler.

To take the attitude that the streak can legitimately continue is ridiculous; wrestling still needs credibility and Taker's streak has lost all credibility. The fact that Taker wasn't the one walking out of the ring in his match this year with HHH tells you everything about what the Streak has become.

Taker vs HHH... it was good, but not as good as people are making out.

Orton vs Punk - good, but Orton vs Christian a few weeks ago was better. I've seen both put on better matches.

Miz vs Cena - Cena was shockingly poor, even by his standards. The man has no idea how to bump or sell, and the Miz isn't good enough to hide his short-comings.

Cody vs Rey - my pick for match of the night, but again, in comparison to previous Mania's, it had nothing on other matches. In-ring, WM27 was nothing special at all, and the use of Morrison, Ziggler, the 8 man tag, Danielson and Sheamus being booted off the card, Edge and ADR opening the show... it wasn't the worst Mania ever, but not far off that 'honour' at all.
