Federer v Tsonga....the stats!
I found it frustrating that during Wimbledon the stat of total number of points won was not available on the wimbledon web site.
Looks like this is another case of Federer having the better stats but the wrong end result!
Statistics on Return (Fed left --------- Tsonga right)
1st Serve Return Points Won
27% (28/102) ------------- 22% (23/103)
2nd Serve Return Points Won
32% (14/43) ---------------29% (10/34)
Break Points Converted
100% (1/1) ----------------33% (3/9)
Return Games Played
25 ----------------26
Statistics on Points
Total Service Points Won
75% (104/137) ------------71% (103/145)
Total Return Points Won
28% (42/145) -------------24% (33/137)
Total Points Won
51% (146/282) ------------48% (136/282)
It is rare when the winner has won about 3% less points than the loser. Bar the number of BPs, Federer seems to have the better numbers everywhere else.
Pretty unlucky...or he had one of this lethargic day like he got in 2008 when he coudl not deal with pace (Tsonga serve here). Which is very unlike him usually.

Re: Federer v Tsonga....the stats!
Stats are really interesting Tenez - how frustrating!!! I must say, I thought Fed looked v good for 2 sets, as did Jo Tsonga, but for the last three he just looked a little passive and stuck on the baseline with no really hunger to come in and attack any second serve he got a look at - back to the Fed of middle of last year.
I am a huge Fed fan and hate always to see him lose, but I love Tsonga too (though not nearly so much!!) and was very pleased to see him do so well this Wimbledon. He is so entertaining when he is 'on' but so often very disappointing. Hope that his new freedom without a coach brings more joyful tennis and even greater success.

that's the main stat, and tsonga's stat is better, as he has 3 breaks to 1. Tsonga won less total points, but was still while federer was winning a lot more service games to love, tsonga consistently won games to 30.

I thought that Wimbledon had finished now !
So what is the point of going over old stats ?

It just really flames me how poor Federer's returning game was, he clearly is not the player he once was on that side of his game.
Spray ball? Pass
Bottom of the net? Pass
Too defensive? PAss
It would have been great to witness another great semi between Djokerer!

Same here. I wanted TSoga to go all the way then cause for me he was teh most exciting player of the rmaining 4 but looked like he was short of ideas v Djoko. Essentially his BH is not consistent enough.
However he was pretty close to lead 2 sets to 1 v Djoko. Certainly did better than Nadal!

Re: Federer v Tsonga....the stats!
That is odd isn't it? I've seen a few times when the guy with more points loses, but that's quite a high % to still lose.
Still, I thought Fed was really uninspired that match.
