Stephen Hendry, an outsider for the Welsh Open? Any thoughts?

I'm not ashamed to admit that Stephen is my all time favourite player, so I live in hope he can get back to his winning form.
I can't honestly see him winning this though, he definitely plays better in longer matches, let alone the first one to four frames

There shouldn't be any shame in supporting any player. stephen hendry was and is a fine snooker player and on his day can still produce god like snooker. however like i just said on his day and sadly he doesn't seem to have many of them lately
Re: Stephen Hendry – Welsh Open Title?
I watched Hendry's last 16 game with Selby at the German Masters, which he lost 5-3. Didn't play particularly well, but had still fought back from 3-1 down at the interval to level at 3-3, but some poor break off shots which caught the blue on the way back let Selby in too often. Hendry is still capable of decent breakbuilding and his cueball control is still very good, but he misses too many easy pots and his long game is no better than 50-50 these days. This wouldn't be a problem had he reigned in his aggressive style of play in favour of more tactical safety play, but to his credit, he stayed true to his original style, but it has cost him numerous matches whenever one or more facets of his game aren't working.

Agreed it certainly looks beyond him. I feel thou if he were to adapt his game i,e stop going for they long pots that he hasn't consistently sunk for a few years now he'd have a chance. He's certainly got the tactical nouse to do it but he seems unable to. Shame because I'd love to see him lift another wc

Have to agree here, i cant honestly see Hendry winning another ranking tournement. He may get to the odd 1-4 final but thats about as much as he is capable of these days. Age catches us all up at some stage but full credit to the man for still being at the upper rankings of the game after so long.
