If they want Rugby League to grow in Ireland, they need to get the Australia game there. Plenty of rugby union fans here know of players like Thurston, Hayne and Inglis. If they get these guys over here playing, it will draw in the crowds.

They could do well out of it. The whole Rugby Union v Rugby League thing doesn't exist in Ireland compared to Uk.
Australia would be a showpiece event that would draw in rugby fans.

That's probably because most people in Ireland don't care about Rugby League. It would be a huge thing to attract punters. Even a union fan would consider going to it.

We don't care about it but if it started to grow I don't think you'd ever see the rivalry that there is in England or to a lesser extent Australia.
We already have football, hurling, soccer and rugby so one more sport wouldn't be a problem and since it's a summer sport would be good for Union players to keep fit in the off season.

I play Union and I'd think about taking it up if there was a club near me just for the summer
Realisticly though its only going to be the 5th sport in Ireland at best and would have to fight it out with tennis and cricket with is growing very fast(Beating England at something tends to do that )
A WC match should help though

Do you think an Oz-Eng or Oz-Kiwi RL match could get a few punters in at Croke Park? Love that ground!
I think it would be a good idea to play a WC match in Ireland...and get some more tourists over to your faire isle to explore other parts too.

Wouldn't have a hope of filling it but you might get 15-20,000. Landsdowne would be a better option.

Ireland v england would proably draw well (though all the players would be english!)

Of course, Landsdowne Rd...that's probably more suited for a RL match.
