Has Tresco fully recovered to play against India??
Captain Marcus Trescothick will be rested for Somerset's three-day tour game against India, which starts on Friday at Taunton.
Trescothick was expected to play alongside England skipper Andrew Strauss, who is guesting for the side.
Director of cricket Brian Rose told the club website: "It is a long and taxing season for Marcus and the fixture list offers few chances to take a break.
"We want him to be fit physically and mentally for some big games ahead."

Huh?
Hes not pl;aying against IUndia because hes being rested by his county for games that mean something to them.
Hes not even been approached by England if thats what you are alludeing to. Sadly he is out of the picture for internationals still, hes the one player who looked like a genuine ODI opener England have ever had.

If he hadnt retired from international cricket he would be Captain of both ODI and Test side.
Tresco is the best English batsman of his generations, probably our best opener of all time

agree,
Sad he had soem health issues that prevented him from playing, otherwise he could have become a legendary batsman like Sachi, or Ponting.

England's best opener ever? quite a bold statement, given we've had Hobbs and Sutcliffe, Hutton, Edritch, Boycott and Gooch.
He may (indeed probably would) have scored more runs than any of those above, but that's more to do with the amount of cricket played than with inate talent.
I would agree though with the comment that we REALLY miss him as an ODI player - we've done OK in tests without him, but we could do with a reliable aggressive batsman at the top of the order in one dayers.
A real shame that he had to step out of international cricket for his own mental well-being.

Old banger? Liz Hurley is still top notch! Well worth one!
Re: Has Tresco fully recovered to play against India??
It's a shame this, though. I was looking forward to Strauss and Tresco opening for old times sake, I had visions of them repeating their halcyon days of the 05 Ashes and putting on a 150 opening partnership!

Thorpe was another one who lost it and declined before he should have because of personal issues. Anyone any idea how hes getting on these days, hes noticeably absent from view. I know they didnt like his voice as a commentator but unlike many ex stars he hasnt gone out of his way to whore himself for attention.
Interesting to read today about Trott having had drink problems earlier in his life, which partly explains his late rise to the top.
