606v2 has picked the England World Cup squad
Original message:
World Cup squad - chosen by you
Props: Dan Cole, Alex Corbisiero, Andrew Sheridan, Matt Stevens
Hookers: Dylan Hartley, Lee Mears, Steve Thompson
Locks: Louis Deacon, Courtney Lawes, Tom Palmer
Back row: Tom Croft, Nick Easter, James Haskell, Lewis Moody, Chris Robshaw, Tom Wood
Scrum halves: Danny Care, Ben Youngs, Joe Simpson
Fly halves: Toby Flood, Charlie Hodgson, Jonny Wilkinson
Centres: Shontayne Hape, Mike Tindall, Manu Tuilagi
Wings: Chris Ashton, Matt Banahan, Mark Cueto, James Simpson-Daniel
Full backs: Ben Foden
It took a while for someone to pull ahead to take the final back spot, but James Simpson-Daniel eventually pulled ahead to take the last spot.
Probably the squad I would have picked if left on my own, although I might have gone for Wigglesworth over Simpson and Flutey over Hodgson, as I'm not 100% sure about Banahan at centre. That way Wigglesworth and Flutey cover 9, 10 and 12 between them, I'd have Banahan starting on the wing and Tuilagi on the bench, with Simpson-Daniel covering wing and Cueto covering full-back.
Delon Armitage is probably the notable exception when it comes to the squad Martin Johnson will pick (probably in as a specialist 15 with Simpson-Daniel missing out), but his form has been poor and Cueto has done a job for England at 15 before.
So what do you all think? They say the camel is a horse designed by committee, but is anyone 100% happy with this squad? Anyone think it's dreadful? And what changes do you think Martin Johnson would make when selecting his 30?
Martin Johnson World Cup training squad announcement a couple of weeks ago got us all talking about who should be there/shouldn't be there/should go to the World Cup/shouldn't go to the World Cup etc. Now that the heat has died down a little bit and the squad has had a bit of time to sink in, who do we think should make the final 30? Over the next few weeks I'll post a series of polls so that we can select a 30 man World Cup squad.

Re: 606v2 has picked the England World Cup squad
Pretty happy with the 606v2 squad considering the original training squad that MJ picked (really thought Goode deserved a place in the training squad and Barritt should have been the starting 12 for the last year but that's a different story). During voting I picked Shaw as a 4th lock option over Robshaw but I'm coming around to the idea of only taking 3 locks and covering form the back row in an emergency. I also like the idea of having 2 back rowers on the bench and I think others could be right in saying this may be a tournament too far for Shaw.
As for the backs would much rather have Hodgson in the squad than Flutey and would prefer Cueto at Fullback than Armtiage if Foden got injured. Think MJ's final squad will be different, can see Armitage, Flutey and Shaw making the final 30 at the expense of Robshaw (think Fourie would be picked before him), Simpson-Daniel and Hodgson. Hope Tuilagi makes the final cut, we may need something different in the centers as the tournament goes on.
