Official 606 P4P Rankings: RESULTS!
Please find below the official 606 P4P rankings as at 27th July 2011
1 Manny Pacquiao (1)
2 Sergio Martinez (2)
3 Nonito Donaire (3)
4 Juan Manuel Marquez (5)
5 Floyd Mayweather Jr (4)
6 Wladimir Klitschko (9)
7 Yuriorkis Gamboa (6)
8 Bernard Hopkins (12)
9 Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (7)
10 Carl Froch (10)
11 Amir Khan (17)
12 Andre Ward (14)
13 Timothy Bradley (8)
14 Giovanni Segura (11)
15 Miguel Cotto (16)
16 Vitali Klitschko (15)
17 Toshiaki Nishioka (21)
18 Victor Ortiz (New)
19 Robert Guerrero (19)
20 Chris John (13)
21 David Haye (18)
22 Jean Pascal (re-entry)
T23 Lucian Bute (20)
T23 Brandon Rios (New)
T23 Roman Gonzalez (New)
Legend: (previous ranking- 18th April 2011)*
Overall, a solid list. Manny Pacquiao and Sergio Martinez maintain a clear margin at P1 and P2 respectively.
Most notably Floyd Mayweather Jr has been omitted by many due to his inactivity, however I’m sure a convincing victory in his 17th September fight against Victor Ortiz (a new entry at P18) will have him once again rise to the top of the table.
Wladimir Klitschko has risen to P6 after his convincing victory over David Haye- who himself falls from P18 to P21.
Otherwise the only real movement is Bernard Hopkins breaking into the top 10 at P8 at the age of 46, with Timothy Bradley plummeting to P13 mainly due to his apparent reluctancy to fight Amir Khan in a unification battle.
Notable mention to Amir Khan who himself has risen to P11 from P17 post his Judah victory. Will we see him becoming a future top P4Per in the not too distant future?
Many Thanks to all the votes cast, please feel free to discuss!

Very good list I feel. Chris John has fallen a fair way from the last one though!

Agreed. Think he may of been a victim of the top 15 voting system, many people having him in their top 15, but usually at P14 or P15 hence he lost a lot of points.
I'm more surprised how Cotto still maintains such a high ranking amongst many posters. Although, he does scrape into my top 25.

i'm surprised at vitali's ranking too, i remember him being in most people's lists and i don't remember cotto being in as many people's list and i don't remember anyone putting haye in their top 15

Re: Official 606 P4P Rankings: RESULTS!
Think it maybe has something to do with their last fights. Wlad beat arguably the biggest challenge out there, Vitali was involved in a 1st round retirement against Solis. Therefore Vitali remains about the same, yet Wlad gets a boost.

Re: Official 606 P4P Rankings: RESULTS!
probably, it was still techincally a 1st round KO though, so maybe a bit harsh- i expect if he deals with adamek easily then he will rise up again.

Re: Official 606 P4P Rankings: RESULTS!
Agreed. Yet I can't see it being that big a leap to move him into the top 10. I always find it hard to rank HWs when it comes to P4P as well, maybe that's why he's got a bit of a raw deal, seeing as Wlad is seen as the man.

Re: Official 606 P4P Rankings: RESULTS!
I think Chris John's fall is mainly to do with not having a fight since the last vote, probably the same with the Klitschko situation Wlad having a big win against a man in most peoples top 15 obviously elevating him where as Vitali hasnt fought since then.

Vitali has rarely done well in these polls. David Haye only received 3 or 4 points in total- so he was almost omitted altogether.

Where you reckon David would be if he beat Wlad?
Also perhaps this should maybe go in our Boxing Vault?

Get Fists to start a new thread in the vault for it and we can carry on debating it here

Best thing to do would be for All Time Great to write a thread in the ' Vault ' and simply copy and paste his first comment from this thread to that one.
In this way he still gets credit for the original idea and we have a permanent record of the results there, together with the ability to continue discussing it here.

I must be a bit thick today, mate ( thicker than normal, that is, ) since I don't really understand this one.
Pretty sure that you are taking the Mick, though.

I got that bit, mate.
Difference is 2592, and probably 2591 of those have been red ink responses to a couple of our livelier members ( and ex members. )

This thread is now present in the Boxing Vault section. I will endeavour to take ownership of the 606v2 pound for pound rankings, and will continue to produce a poll periodically.

Might be an idea to do a top 10 all time list. Would be interesting to see how it comes out given how heated the old v new debate can get on here.

Mayweather below Marquez? I can only presume this is due to Mayweathers current inactive streak.

Would Froch ever be pfp number 1, looking at the other guys in his weight even if he beat them all I still couldn't see him in the top 5 in most peoples eyes as the people whom he will beat are way below him in the rankings.

Exactly, a lot of people (me included) don't think Mayweather can be given any place if current p4p lists as he hasn't fought in over a year and it'll be something like 18 months of inactivity by the time he fights Ortiz. Therefore he has lots of 0 votes, in fact I'm a little surprised he's as high as he is...

Don't like to use the 'c' word, but Calzaghe reached #3 which wasn't bad given his opponents and lack of weight-hopping.

i think he could make top 3 purely on the fact that most of the top 10 could retire before froch, although donaire looks destinedn to be the next p4p number 1

I think Froch would need to beat Ward, Kessler (re-match) and Bute to become Top 5 (and above) P4P material.
By doing this he would have pretty much cleaned out a very strong division. I can't see it happening though.

Re: Official 606 P4P Rankings: RESULTS!
i can see froch doing it, also can see him facing cleverly in a year or so- providing he keeps his belt that long. ward is probably the toughest challenge, i thought froch beat kessler last, but it was close and i think he will know what he needs to do to win now as well.
