Gatland has already stated in the interview after the England game that Wales will make a lot of changes for the Argentina game and bring in a lot of experience, he named Martyn Williams, Gethin Jenkins and Adam Jones.
I'm thinking Wales will win the game fairly well. If we stick to mainly a first team. Though we can safely assume Argentina will pick their strongest team, because were the only really meaningful team Argentina will play before their world Cup begins.

I think we need to retain the nucleas and not tinker too much - I am expecting something like:
15 - Byrne/Priestland
14 - North
13 - John Davies/S Williams
12 - Roberts/Henson
11 - Brew (we know what Shane can do)
10 - Hook
9 - Phiilips/Tavis (40 each)
8 - Toby/Delve
7 - Williams/Warburton
6 - Lydiate/Delve
5 - Charteris
4 - Davies
3 - James/Gethin
2 - Bennett (3 decent games on the run - who knows)
1 - Adam

Re: Wales Vs Argentina :
Yes I agree pretty much, Wales have a lot of injuries but unless some of these guys actually play next week I can't see Gatland taking a lot of them. Big week for Welsh rugby to be honest.
You'd have to assume most of the injured players who are stuggling will be dropped from the squad if their not fit next week.
15 Lee Bryne
14 Aled Brew
13 Jonathan Davies
12 Gavin Henson
11 Shane Williams
10 Stephen Jones
9 Tavis Knoyle
8 Ryan Jones
7 Martyn Williams
6 Toby Faletau
5 Alun-Wyn Jones
4 Bradley Davies
3 Adam Jones
2 Matthew Rees
1 Gethin Jenkins

Re: Wales Vs Argentina :
I just wander if by keeping Gethin Jenkins and Adam Jones out of the England game yesterday, he(Gatland) did not do them any favours at all.
Surely because od their injuries they wouls of need alot of game time before this game against Argentina.
If Lee Byrne is not at full fitness who will take his place?..Ree...Gavin Henson if he is injured with a broken arm i believe, then that does leave Wales with a problem in the centre does it not.

Why didn't he do them any favours? He's balancing risk with game time and the Argentina forwards are sure to test their fitness.
Replacement for Byrne at FB are Priestland and Hook, Scott Williams is arguably a better centre than Henson, although with Roberts and JD we have plaenty of cover there.

Well Gethin is still getting over a nasty long term injury to be fair.
Adam has recently been publicly hammered by Gatland for being unfit and letting his work in the loose deteriorate. Gatland went on record and said Mitchell is ahead in the pecking order, because of his fantastic work in the loose, and warned Adam to buck up. I guess sticking with Mitchell is Gatland's way of putting Adam in his place. It's not the first time a coach has had issues with Adam slacking, Hansen used to pull him off after 30 minutes to show him who's boss. Adam will have a chance to come back against the easiest of the 3 warm up matches Wales will face and hopefully he will be chomping at the bit to get stuck into the Argies.

15. Byrne Priestland on at 60
14. Halfpenny
13. Scott Williams
12. JD2
11. Brew
10. Hook
9. Phillips - Lloyd Williams or Knoyle as a replacement
8. Faletau (needs gametime) Jones as replacement
7. Tipuric
6. Turnbull
5. Charteris
4. Davies
3. Jones
2. Bennett
1. Jenkins
Bench: Ryan Jones, Rhys Priestland, Paul James, Lloyd Burns, Tavis Knoyle/Lloyd Williams, George North, AWJ
Think its time to test out Turnbull and Tipuric in teh backrow, we know how good Lydiate and Warburton are, its time to give them a rest

You didn't, but it's the impression people on this forum give me. I suppose he does deserve a shot. I prefer a no.8 with pace anyway and Ryan (who is currently the best option) doesn't have that.

Re: Wales Vs Argentina :
Did anyone see the Argentina Vs South America game?
The quality was shocking, worst game Iv'e seen in years to be honest.
Iv'e seen on the polls on the Argentina website that their fans seem very confident of turning us over next week, but their last meaningful game they played was November 28 Nov 2010, when they got squashed by Ireland.
They have had 2 games against Uruguay and and Chile in May which they won by 60 and 70 points, then this mickey mouse game against South America. I really wonder how battle hardened they will be coming into this game. Because from what I can see it's been 9 months since they played anyone decent.

If we underestimate them or put out a weak side we will be embarassed. A confidence boost and a performance for 80 minutes is much needed to build on yesterdays great defensive effort.

They still have some quality in the side. For me next week we have to show that we still have power up front (step up Adam) and the backs can have a decent run out.

shane is still a vital player for wales. we shouldnt play him against argentina. putting him in against england twice is enough exposure. we should let brew have a start.

Haha, I wouldn't want to tell Shane he isn't playing against Argentina when he's trying to go for the World record of tries!

Perhaps they don't pay much attention to rugby here then. Or perhaps they're basing it upon reports of the England front row having the upper hand with neglecting to note that we will have players to come back in and that England are a better team than them. Before getting squashed by Ireland didn't they get squashed by us 33-10 or something? I expect us to turn them over...
The back 3 for Arg will almost certainly be Brew, Byrne and Halfpenny; the latter 2 have been declared fit for this game.

Re: Wales Vs Argentina :
I'm of the opinion that we need to give some players some time on the pitch and wrap others in cotton wool now.
1. Gethin
2. Hibbard
3. Adam Jones (none of these front rowers have played yet and all need match practice)
4. Brad Davies (Played 1 game needs another)
5. Charteris (Give AWJ a break and a chance for Charteris to get more time)
6. Turnbull (all the 1st choice back row should be rested)
7. Nugget/ Tipuric (Same reason as Delve below and need to make sure Warburton makes it on the plane)
8. Delve ( Assuming he's in Gatlands thoughts but if not Ryan)
9. Knoyle/ Williams (both need more game time)
10. Hook (His chance to make his claim especially with Jones and Priestland carrying knocks)
11. Brew
12. Scott Williams
13. JD2
14. Halfpenny
15. Byrne
All of the 11 - 15 players need more game time. JD2 has played 1, Brew has played a half and Scott has played a part in both, Halfpenny and Byrne need to prove their fitness.
I think that side is more than good enough to win but also makes sure that it gives (a) we do not risk our first choice/ key players and also (b) gives these guys a fair crack of the whip.

Re: Wales Vs Argentina :
Even with the changes this may well be the strongest team we've put out for the RWC warm ups - A good win and we are psychologically in a much better place than we were after the 6 nations. A good win or a win for the matter should not be taken for granted and we need the same hunger and urgency as Saturday - And of course some posession might help.

Re: Wales Vs Argentina :
I hope we field a strong front five to let the backs get the ball providing they are fit, I would like to see Bradley and Charteris in the second row behind Gethin, Hibbard and Adam. I think R Jones has to to go to 8 as Faletau has played two hard games and made too many basic mistakes for my liking (dropping the ball, poor passing, no control at the back of the scrum and not a great option in the line out). I think Faletau should be cover for 6 and possibly swapping with 8 in a go forward scrum. Gatland will give M Williams a game (or 1/2 a game) but I have no idea about 6 as he has so many back row players in the squad!
I think we should go for a full strength set of backs and introduce fringe players if we build a lead, the problem is I suspect gatland does not know what is strongest set of backs is! My backs: Bryne, Williams, Phillips, Hook, Roberts, Davies, 1/2 Penny/North.

If Hook is playing 10 then I would start with Williams on the wing then bring on S Jones and Halfpenny on at some point in the second half,
We need Hook or Halfpenny on the field for their long range kicking ability.
