Shouldn't we answer this via a poll?
Btw, there's bound to be a limit on posting articles/polls per day. It's getting out of hand now .

If we answered via a poll,I think you would find that the margin of error would be much lower than his poll...

Play nice folks, everyone's allowed an opinion and can put up a poll if they like. If you have any issues with any articles/posts just remember to use the report button. Ta

I do have an idea though following Biltongs Humpty and my pitiful effort today- whats the best way to set up a little rugby poets corner for us aspiring Dylan Thomas's, Kiplings, Wordsworths and other's I can find easily by googling 'poet'
In the coming weeks could be a nice diversion to the 'seriousness' of the world cup in a similar vain to the virtual pub...
I van see all sorts of creativity out there- coaches poems, player poems, country poems and even pseudonym or moderator poems...!! Some of those are screaming out for a poem...surely...in a light hearted way of course...
What ya think?

Not really looking for a diversion. I just hope if they're going to come up I sure hope they're original and witty. After all, we are hosts this time. We should be able to put things aside...

Taylorman that is a great idea, PM one of the big knobs on 606v2, I would love to display my literary genius on some platform.
Just a prelude to what can be expected.
Pieter de Villiers was a political appointment
Met with much resentment
He said he had a new gamplan
This was embraced by many a bok fan
After only one attempt it was withdrawn
And springbok rugby saw it's dawn.

LONGING FOR THE STANDS
Well, the time of year is fast approaching,
When KIWI rugby gets a toasting,
To play the likes of Ireland and Wales,
And tell their friends of loosing tales…
The biggest match they’ll play, they say,
Is against the Dragons on a Autumn day,
For Wales right now are at their best,
With three great feathers on their chests…
As a lonely Welshman in foreign lands,
I dream of being in those stands,
To watch my team play their best,
And say to my friends, bring on the rest…
To watch the match from afar…
As I sit and drink in the bar,
Amongst GOOD KIWI friends I will be…
Sitting in the sun, near the sea…
I’ll stand alone shouting for my team,
Surrounded by THE KIWI SCREAM….
For I’ll be wearing Red that day,
To support “The Boys” as they play,
But if we happen to lose or draw,
I’ll still give an almighty roar...
For I am a Welshman, Strong and Proud,
As I long to be in that crowd…

Welsjohn, if that is your own creation it is excellent. I wonder though if it hasn't been sourced from some literary piece, in a library somewhere.

Try drinking a Hawkes Bay Merlot instead, it may get you through the 3 bottle barrier. Anyway more fun than driving into england.

But as we usually lose or draw,
I'm always reduce to a whimpering bore,
For i am a Welshman,strong and proud,

Welshjohn this ones for you!
As the opening day approach
We lament that we didn't poach
some of the majestic forward Boks
who will soon be cleaning our clocks
The day is drawing near
when we will have to hide our fear
We know they'll bring their big guns
and with a myriad of awesome runs
They'll annihilate our team
While we run out of steam
In the end the match will be a goner
We'll still run a lap of honour
'cause even though we're sad
losing to the boks ain't so bad.

New Zealand
Pies with cheese in
fizzy ale
frozen chups
wrecked cars for sale
barking gangs all clad in patches
cooking 'P' for young teenages
Drinking and driving a national trend
political madness all round the bend
haka's, tangi's, powhiris
meaningless flags flap in the breeze
Poor old nation on its knees
Hone H does what he pleases
Slips, potholes, washouts galore
at least it's leagal to buy a whore (so I have been told)
Hongi's, hangi's, whakapapa's
Foreshore and seabed belongs to all you sooki baba's
Treaty, tui, Tutukaka
City of Sails one point five million Jafa
Beetroot in burgers, half a pig head
Kina and Paua on the seabed
Suidcide is high, sperm count is low
but kiwi girls just go go go
Maori, Marae, Mama mia
Kaumatua and your Kuia
Pavlova....Ohhhh no it's an Aussie treat
but Kiwis wear jandals on their feet
Ka kite ano I must go
1987 ho ho ho ho
South Africa
Old men in green will be destroyed
as the mighty dragon machine is deployed
we'll smash you in the scrum and ruck
but as we are Welsh we'll wish you good luck.
Watch in horror and 'ikkle Shane
makes Habanna grimace in pain (again)
as he dots down for the try
and Sospan Fach waves the Boks goodbye.

Old men in Green as it will be found
Will drive the mighty dragons into the ground
They'll wish there were no such thing as a ruck
It'll be like running into a truck.
Watch in horror as little ol'shane
are being runover again and again
As the Boks go in for yet another score
Who might then say our gameplan is a bore
Yet the welsh will try as they might
to put up a brave and honourable fight
But alas it will all be too late
As losing on that day is their fate.
The legacy of these Boks will be written
And all the welsh maidens will be smitten
They'll run after every springbok in sight
and for the first time, these boks will take flight.
For at home their young maidens await
and they better not think of being late
Their children must be put back into bed
But not before a springbok story is read.

Welsh John, I sense some bluster on your part
Because, truth is, you must know in your heart
That Springbok packs are never easy pickings -
And we should know, we've had our share of kickings.
But we can match them now, and if we hold
Our own up front, get quick ball and be bold,
We've got the skills behind to beat the Bokke -
And send our good friend Biltong off his rocker!

Re: Poet's Corner (formerly Who wants to ...)
As much as I enjoy this banter and poem
The truth is the springbok will roam
Our forwards are tough as nails
their legacy will sprout from fables and tales
Of that fatefull day in Wellington
Even though the poster on 606 will pray
The springboks are the best is what they'll say
Accusations of bullying there will be
but a more disciplined side you struggle see
Biltongbek will just be fine
As the springboks have found a place to dine
Dragon head it will be
And to wash it all down with a milkshake smoothee.

It won't be dragon head that you'll be eating
If in a few weeks' time you get a beating;
You'll have to wipe the tear from your eye
And throw Peter de Villiers on the braai!

Goodness gracios, deary me
when with this crazy South African see
The Springbok day has come and gone
and for 80 minutes do not expect to hang on
to Welsh shirts as they fly by to score try after try after try
but we'll be there as the days go by, at the airport to wave the Bok a cheery goodbye.

Re: Poet's Corner (formerly Who wants to ...)
The Welsh believed they had the right stuff
But it didn't take long to run out of puff.
The Boks were simply to hard to contain
And anything the dragons tried was in vain.
The Dragons played a very hard game
But for their loss there was no one to blame
On the day the boks were simply too good
Be it with ball in hand or onto the boot
This poetic license provides me much pleasure
As this banter is something to treasure
As fans we all love the game
and deep inside we are all the same.
Our wives and children provide us our base
To get home at night and see a friendly face
But rugby is the game we passionately love
Of that we will never get enough.

So what about the French? So hard to say
What kind of game Les Bleus will come and play.
They could be great, with passion and finesse,
Or they could fall apart and be a mess.

There is a team that wears all Black
Oh, how I wish they'll give Graham henry the sack
There are much pressure on this team
As they need to achieve the impossible dream
The william web ellis that once their's was
Has since been elusive on the green grass
The French has provided them with much pain
and in 2007 it happened again
But as for the People of the long white cloud
Their All Blacks have made them proud
As they win almost every game they play
We're gonna win this one, they all say
We''ll ruck them we'll beat them
Once in while richie will cheat them
But overall we'll be the best
even in the final test.

You can keep your waltz matilda
your haka Maori man
you can keep you luck O'Reily
Your sporran with your clan
The Boks can go a leaping
The French La Marseillaise
If God exsists then let us hope he helps the good old USA
Me I'll have Cwm Rhondda, the valley
and the Vales
I may live in New Zealand
but I was made in Wales.

There once was a thread from Krusty
We would have preferred it come from a blonde called busty
Somehow I can't remember what is was about
But it seems it never had a shout
For the posters made ot clear
We don`t accommodate WUMS here
So we turned it into the poets thread
And literary arts will be our bread

So here we are off to the 'long white cloud',
I do hope the boys make me proud,
I eagerly await the team selection,
Much more exciting than a general election,
watching the teams sent out by deccie,
Over my early morning brekkie,
Will i be happy?will i be blue?,
Will i end up on the sofa sniffing glue?,
Will we play our best team?or revert to type,
End up playing like sh1te or living up to the hype?
So come on lads blast them roos,
Make the semis and stop any boos!

Re: Poet's Corner (formerly Who wants to ...)
A win for PDV at last
His star was fading very fast
But resolute Springbok defence
Provided them with much needed compence
Our defence line a few times went bust
Hence our cover defence was a must
Morne Steyn kicked many goals
In between those upright poles
Heinrich Brussow was the MAN at the ruck
Doing his job like a pick up truck
Bismarck du Plessis was never slack
Driving the ball forward, and tackling back
It provides the Boks with some hope
To be succesfull with a small prayer from the pope
To help us gain a rwc victory
And bulid on the Bok legacy
