Tom Wood out of Ireland match... Empty Tom Wood out of Ireland match...

Post by yappysnap Fri 26 Aug 2011, 5:21 pm

Not sure if this has been covered but Wood is out and Palmer is now in on the bench. Lawes covers flanker now.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-union/international/tom-wood-forced-out-of-england-warmup-2344456.html

"...Wood, the Northampton flanker, has suffered what England manager Martin Johnson described as a "mild calf strain" and been replaced on the bench by Stade Francais lock Tom Palmer. "

Any thoughts on this?

Hopefully it's nothing but it is a worry that so far before the tournament we have:
Youngs
Moody
Both not match fit.

Then we have:
Wood
Sheridan
Haskal
Hape
Lawes
Who have all recently suffered and just returned from injuries or suffered minor ones which could play up.

It's a little bit of a worry, but hopefully his injury isn't too serious.

What do they get up these days on the traing field?

There does seem to be alot of injuries during traing rather than in any game.

I do hope it is not to serious.

Jenkins has a longer term calf problem but Ryan and S Jones have recently done calves in the Welsh camp...it makes you wonder what is going on in training.

Right now all coaches would prefer to have any player with anything more than a paper cut to be held out this weekend. Don't be surprised if we hear about more players with slight injuries being held out. Nothing to worry about or even think twice about.

Tight calves and loose bullocks.
Insufficient cattle on the paddock.
Lots of beef in the pack.

Rugby's gone all very agricultural recently.
