Yes it is. I'm also going to proclaim myself a tactical genius,Dublin went down the wings and got scores. I should take over from Counihan

Would you take your point McMenamon you idiot! I told you the game was over and it is, I'm officially great despite the fact that I got my pre match prediction wrong (my algorithim didn't include a sending off )

WOOOO HOOO! But to be honest, that was a crap performance. They can't afford to play like that against Kerry.
Well done boys.

Still....a crap win is a win all the same. The Dubs have had a good year on the whole in the old GAA haven't they?

Minor hurlers and Footballers and U21 Hurlers is it? That's some going,I wonder has any county won the senior and minor in one year.

As much as I'd love it for them to win the Sam, I don't think it's going to happen...but this is an improvement on last year for the senior footballers.

Well, jeezo. I was a bit busy today so didn't catch the game but by the sound of it I didn't miss much. We all expected a fairly dour affair but I didn't think it'd be that bad, ultra defence from both sides with the Dubs scores bar two coming from frees. For entertainment I can't remember a worse inter-county game since I started following the game. The wee Dubs made a better game against Galway. Don't know if it'll even be worth watching on TSG.

If you have any paint to watch drying I would take that as a more entertaining option.
Dublin did prove today they have the bottle for a battle.
Connolly was unlucky to be sent off and perhaps Donegal were lucky not to have one of their own sent off in the same incident.
Thankfully Donegal were not successful but McGuinness after match comments were worrying. He seems to put the loss down to Dublin being more advanced in terms of conditioning.
Four training sessions a week for three hours at a time what more does he want from amateur players.

The sending off hurt Donegal. They had an extra men and hadn't a clue where to put him.

Maybe Donegal should have voluntarily taken one of their own off. Robots dont have the capacity for independent thought.
Maybe an early exit next year will kill off the experiment.

why you so against donegal? ok probably one of the worst matches to watch thsi year at croke park but dublin were just as defensive. as an ulsterman i would have prefared donegal in the final like most in ulster we supported down in their semi and final last year.

Patrick!!!!!! Come on. The game was like this BECAUSE OF Donegal and the disgusting brand of "football" they have played all year. Im glad they lost and i hope they continue to lose........are the people of Donegal enjoying this stuff i wonder?? Id prefer to lose with a bit of bravery and dignity than the cheating cowardly cynical way Donegal play..........................

No one would want to watch football if everyone played like that.........The way Tyrone & Kerry have played the last decade is what people want to watch......

ofcoarse they wouldnt imagine every game like that today was like rugby at times the defenses defending in groups passing kept going back players going on runs and being brought down.
jarlath burns said on bbc gaelic football is probably the only sport where fouling gives you an advantage as the team commited the foul stops the game and has time to get back into position and as the free is being taken every player is now marked so you cant blame manager's for cynical fouling its within the rules.

how big a are the gaa not letting the drumragh club to enter croke park to score a point after soloing a ball from drumragh co tyrone to croke park all in aid of the michaela foundation and to think of all the non gaa events/people they allow in and make millions out of it was only for charity after all.

Re: LIve Scores- 27-28/8/11 Metropoles and Fencingpoles
Donegal were on the all out defense for virtually the entire game, they had more than 3 men inside the Dublin half about 4 times. Dublin play a defensive game too but nowhere near as negative. When the two styles meet it’s ugly but Dublins patience won out and they shook their bottlers tag by winning ugly.
I’m sure there’s many a cork, tyrone, down, kildare etc. fan that would love to be in an All Ireland final after winning ugly.

Both team's played awful football yesterday but Donegal don't just play awful football they fake injury, cheat, and do anything they can to slow the game down, they beat Kildare by doing it and reached an all Ireland semi, Dublin have reached and All Ireland final playing pretty muck football barring one or two game's, and Tyrone and Armagh have made a career out of playing poor football so it obviously work's but Donegal have brought it to another level I have never seen anything like that guff in my life.

Re: LIve Scores- 27-28/8/11 Metropoles and Fencingpoles
Aye both teams have played muck throughout the season, yesterday sounded the worst Dublin performance of the year, but at least they showed some bottle in the end. Donegal have been utter pish to watch all season long.
The worrying thing is that Jim McGuinness thinks that's OK, Dublin only won because of "conditioning". And they've brought pride and competitiveness. OK, they've done well this year, but, if I was a donegal fan I don't think I'd be able to watch thier games again and be happy with how they won or be entertained by my team.

I suspect I'd change my tune fairly fast if Cork played like that and won things but that was plainly awful.

Re: LIve Scores- 27-28/8/11 Metropoles and Fencingpoles
The simple fact is that most football coaches around the country are destroying the game. They have no interest in creativity and will coach defence drills all day long rather than attacking ones. I can see it myself at juvenile level. Gobshites of coaches at U14 level so afraid of losing will put all the emphasis on defending/destroying rather than creating.
Donegal proved that they could not play football when Dublin went two points up. They could not work the ball into a scorable position or execute simple foot passes. They got what they deserved.

it could be easily cleaned up only a certain amout of players allowed in your half or opponnts half of pitch if too many go back straight free or 45 would stop any blanket defence system and allow players to play football only midfield or something can go forward or defend.
instead of punnishing fist passing reward kick passing.

Lets get the rose tinted glasses off. Dublin are the lesser of two evils. The cynical nature of their game plan was clear to see in the tyrone game. They didnt need to implement it yesterday as donegal didnt commit enough forward to make the dubs do it. I never thought I would be in this position but I hope Kerry tank them. There is a difference between winning ugly and the farce that was yesterday game.
On your final point this down man and others I know would be embarressed if our team even attempted that. Its not the Down way.

It would have been funnier if you said "it's not the Down thing", but either way it's pretty rediculous.
I'll take an All Ireland any way we can get it. The purists can watch reruns of the Ulster (ahem) championship if they want, i'll be attending the All Ireland final.
Up the Dubs!

Reasoned argument alive and well in literary Dublin. Perhaps when you can see past your short term greed and stupidity you might consider the long term good of the game. Or perhaps your a typical jack.

Whatever, I don't even know what your rambling on about. Are we ruining the game or something?? This puke football has been around years and it came out of Ulster. It's not my job to be worrying about the long term good of the game, it obviously did'nt bother your fellow Ulstermen when it was working for them.

As an "outsider" I have to say it was one of the worst matches I've watched. If I had been neutral, I would've been really disappointed. Being as I support the Dubs though, I felt better in the end
