James Beattie released by Rangers
Rangers have released James Beattie from his contract making him a free agent , i know his wage demands may be a bit high but there should be a few clubs looking at him .
Were will he end up ?

Whats he done in the last few years to merit a club? If he isn't greedy he could possibly go to a League 1 club

Beattie has gone down hill very quickly, i think Blackpool realised this when they took him out on loan last season. He did absolutely nothing at his time with Rangers and looked well off the pace of the game when he did play. If a Premiership side did take him he would be released pretty quickly i would imagine.

Not going to be a starter for any Premiership club, for sure, but teams that need an extra body up front may well be interested if he doesn't demand stupid wages.
Best days definitely behind him for me, but a good striker on his day.

I'd be happy enough if he decided to come to Leeds. Still got a few miles in the tank, and could be a handle up front in the Championship. Certainly an upgrade on what we've got at the moment, barring Becchio.
Not that that would happen in a month of sundays though. A combination of his wage demands and Ken Bates' reluctance to put his hands in his pockets mean we're a million miles apart.

I'm not sure people realise just how little Beattie has left to offer, for the championship i wouldn't even have him as a sub. Sure he was a name and was excited when he came to Rangers as we are struggling, but that excitement soon faded when it became clear he has nothing more to offer. Could maybe do a job in league 1, he's shot to pieces.

James Beattie is one of the myths in football in my opinion. Bar a couple of good seasons at Southampton 8 or 9 years back he's actually done very little to justify his inflated billing.
I'd put him on a par with someone like Lee Hughes where he could do a half decent job in one of the lower leagues but in no way is he a Premier League player.
