US Open - Today's play
Some great matches to look forward to, later on today.
Dolgo - Dr Ivo: a David Vs Golia remake, I pick Dolgo to win this one, but it can go easily the other way
TMF - Cilic: Cilic is having a great run in this USO, Fed's playing well too, but today he cannot afford his usual lapses in concentration, to get on top of this unscathed.
Monaco - Haas: Haas seems to be living an Indian summer. Technically his game is still worth a top 4. The traditional defensive player v. attacking match up.
And in the women draw check out.....
Vinci - Petkovic: for the lovers of classy, vintage offensive tennis

Re: US Open - Today's play
I'm going to be very depressed if Dolgo (about my second favourite player) loses to Karlovic (about my very least favourite player). Cilic has no chance against Federer, who loves this sort of ball-basher with no variety. Haas-Monaco will be close, I tip Monaco to jst shave it (four or five sets).

I shall go for Dolgo in 4.
Feds in 3.
Haas in 4.
I fancy Tipsarevic to upset Berdych.
I shall try and stay tuned in for Djokovic on the night session.

TMF will hae to step up though, I can't believe what Cilic made of Tomic. He was 1 set all and a break up on Djokovic at Wimbledon but was anihilated here.

I agree BB. Tomic made Cilic look like a world beater. Very disappointing performance.

Watching highlights of the Roddick-Sock match. I am somewhat amazed Roddick won in 3 given that his movement was slow as I have ever seen and also His groundstrokes just look so in-effective. Anyone fancy Benneteau?

I am a little anxious on behalf of TMF too bogbrush - hope we don't see lapses of concentration. Cilic was very good here two years ago, obviously against Murray (though latter did have a wrist prob) but he also played a high quality, very competitve match against Delpo in the quarters. Fed needs to be very careful. Actually I feel a little sick about Berdych/Tsonga in his quarter too.
Terribly disappointing about Tomic - when are these young guns going to make an impression, it doesn't seem as if we have much to look forward to as top three fade in time, one by one! It all rests on Donald Young now!
Good old Tommy Haas - what a wonderful player and so good to see him back after last injury. Will certainly be sending lots of good luck vibes his way!

Re: US Open - Today's play
In the past Fed would destroy a 1-D ball basher like Cilic, however in recent years this type of ball basher is exactly the kind of player, when on a hot streak, that can hit Fed off the court.
This is a test. This is also the USO where Fed can still hit winners for fun, so I expect Roger to go through in two tight sets, maybe with a breaker in one.

Re: US Open - Today's play
Cilic has never looked like beating the top guys, saying that I think eventually he will break through and take out the best players, winning a slam before Murray is something of a good investment, maybe not this time but soon enough.
In other matches:
Berdych will have too much power for Tipsy, 4 sets at most.
Karlovic will beat Dolgo 4 sets here I imagine as Ivo can't serve consistent like he used to.
Haas to beat Monaco in 3
Tsonga too strong for Verdasco, also in 3.

I hope Fernando 'The Fiascoooooooooooo' Verdaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaascoooooooo can beat Joe 'The Evil Monga' Tsongaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....
but I expect he'll choke as usual and lose quite handsomely.

Berdbrain is in Noles quarter.
It's Tsonga or Fish for Fed in the quarter.

If Fed plays at 80-90% he'll beat these guys comfortably, unfortunately his performances are so erratic these days.
Who would have thought it? Roger Federer fans worried about the likes of Fish, Tsonga and Berdych at the USO.
It is strange times that we live in

I don;t think it's directly related to age for Fed. He hasn't been physically 100% since that FO final. Most obvious in that WImby 1/4f where after 2 sets he doesn't seem able project himself right or left to retrieve Tsonga's serve, in fact it semed the same problem versus Berdych and Fish last month. A lot of players are still playing very well at 32/33 but I feel that Fed's back has been playing up for the last few months.
I am not certain about it but it certainly looks like it. Unfortunately with Fed we won;t know that until he writes his book.

Yes Tenez, I think the back has been a problem off & on for a while now.

From the clips I saw of the match, Schiavone took the pace out of the match and turned it around. Well done that girl.

Hello
I think we should have a babe section at the top, like a sticky.
We can discuss tennis babes past and present.

Cilic let a chance slip there, 30-40 on Feds serve and nets a standard put away smash.

Ferrero will be relieved though as he had that marathon against Monfils so gives him a chance to fully recharge his batteries.

Nope just giving fans of other players a taste of their own medicine that is all. We have to put up with stuff like Murray only waits for his opponent to make a mistake and here we see Fed does the same so it has to be pointed out and likewise Andy gets stick for his 'Come On' after an unforced error and Federer shows us he is just the same. Fair dos.

frankly you are getting ridiculous. You are a real fan! It was a "forced" error that came after Fed played brillantly on set point. But can you make the difference between UE and FE? I doubt!

Roger really didn't look like winning that set either, which is a bit of a concern for his fans. This could easily be a 5 setter now!

Now isn't that terrible
