US Open - Today's play
First topic message reminder :
Some great matches to look forward to, later on today.
Dolgo - Dr Ivo: a David Vs Golia remake, I pick Dolgo to win this one, but it can go easily the other way
TMF - Cilic: Cilic is having a great run in this USO, Fed's playing well too, but today he cannot afford his usual lapses in concentration, to get on top of this unscathed.
Monaco - Haas: Haas seems to be living an Indian summer. Technically his game is still worth a top 4. The traditional defensive player v. attacking match up.
And in the women draw check out.....
Vinci - Petkovic: for the lovers of classy, vintage offensive tennis

Re: US Open - Today's play
Sorry bogbrush they were just the same as Murray's. So either quit knocking Murray for doing it or also equally knock Fed without offering excuses as to how/why he is allowed to do it or let it drop when Andy does it. Similarly, Cilic hit a net cord winner but was no apology there yet Andy gets slated for a same incident yesterday. Double standards here me thinks.
Dolgopolov now looking good to wrap up a win in four sets.

Re: US Open - Today's play
As anyone mentioned in the past the resemblance between Dolgo and Rios?
Very similar in a way, especially the footwork.

Re: US Open - Today's play
there's the double break, surely the end of the road for Karlovic. This is as good a performance of returning serve as I've seen this year.

Pure destruction from Serena against the 4th seed.
5-0
I think she's lost 3 games in the tournament so far

I can't see anyone stopping Serena Williams this year.

An interesting match on-going between Mardy Fish and Kevin Anderson. Fish leads 6-4 5-6 so is serving to stay in the second set.

Dolgopolov through, wins it with a laser forehand down the line, fantastic stuff despite a slight wobble at the end there!

Haas in 4.
I fancy Tipsarevic to upset Berdych.
I shall try and stay tuned in for Djokovic on the night session.
Shall I tell socal that I am the real Nostradamus?

Haas is moving very well out there. It is good to see he is nearing somewhere near full fitness.

Looking at the draw it is opening up nicely. It has become intriguing. Ferrero to meet Tipsarevic. Dolgopolov to potentially meet Djokovic. It is shaping up nicely.

Of course it was especially noticable given he doesn't go in for it that much.
As I said on that thread, I think Murray must have acknowledged his luck on that point. Don't be so sensitive.

Re: US Open - Today's play
I think the thing with Murray's net chord was that to me he laughed it off like you would in an exhibition match and given the moment it came in the match, maybe just a raise of the hand would've sufficied. I agree that it shouldn't be one incident that Murray is slammed for. I mean good grief we are human.

I would love to get an average 1st serve speed this week as Monaco is serving below 100mph on his first serve.

Haas looking a bit tired out there. Hasn't had is normal 5-setter as of yet. I hope he can get out of this slump. He is down 4-1 in the 2nd.

Re: US Open - Today's play
Think Sky + will need to come to aid for the night matches given that Djokovic's is the last one on. Murray is on 1st on the night session tomorrow. Haas is still down a break in the second and will serve to stay in the 2nd.

Re: US Open - Today's play
Phew - well done Roger. Cilic played some of the tennis we saw here in 2009, but then faded in the fourth. I did think this might be a big banana skin the way the Croat has been playing. Well done Dolgopolov too, and good luck Tommy Haas because I'm off to bed now!

Anyone hear Serena's scream when she hit that passing shot around 2 games ago. That was loud.

Re: US Open - Today's play
The upset could come from the other match. Davydenko, on form ia better ball stricker than Djoko but in the past the difference was essentially made by Djoko having a better serve and being stronger mentally.
However if Djoko's serve drops due to some injury...according to some, then Davy has a real chance.

Re: US Open - Today's play
Hilarious, Davydenko throught out his career has bare beaten a top 10 player in a slam. Infact I doubt he has ever beaten more than a total of 2. He is now a threat to the man having the most dominant tennis season ever? I'm in stitches.

Funny you should say that since Davy keeps The Nadull and in his back pocket and beats him up when ever he feels down
TSONGA-VERDASCO = AWESOME MATCH. tHIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE MATCH OF THE TOURNAMENT IF VERDASCO CAN KEEP IT TOGETHER. INCREDIBLE RALLIES AND CRAZY BLAZING WINNERS.

Re: US Open - Today's play
Really? I'm sure Nadal makes up the impressively 2 top 10 players he ever beat in a slam. Oops! I lied
If a 6-4 head to head is a beat down, God help us what a 18-7 should be called lol. Again I lied. It's actually 17-8 or i'm wrong. No?

Please don't start your nonsense from 606 oh biased and uneducated one.
You will find yourself a pariah.
Tsonga breaks to lead 6-5 in the second set. Awesome winners from both players.

Re: US Open - Today's play
Tsonga wins in 3.
Djoko-Davy exchange breaks in 1st set, now on serve.
Davy bossing most of the rallies at the moment, taking the centre ground, sitting on the baseline and taking the ball early. Shame his serve is so lame at the moment or this could be a really close one.
