It's amazing, despite players being so much fitter nowadays we never have had as many W.O. in the history of tennis and it's the fittest player who complains most of the season being too long. Weird, isn't it?

I was kinda sure Nalby would stop serving like Sampras and turn into a vegetable today, my world class pre match thoughts keep coming through now it's down to ball bashing Delpo to make the day even worse..

Evening guys, what is the est time for the start of the Murray match?

Re: US Open Day 7 04/09
Florian Mayer is absolutely rubbish for a top 30 player, Ferrer's luckbox draw seems far easier than any of the top 3....

Well that first set was a non-event. Roddick very much steam rollered it. Benneteau just offering no offense what so ever.

you do realise Benneteau's best slam performance was 5 years ago, right?Well that first set was a non-event. Roddick very much steam rollered it. Benneteau just offering no offense what so ever.

I don't know what emancipator said but just about every observer and most players are saying they are slow. They look slow to me too - just look at this joke match with JMDP and Simon, where Simon can easily trundle around the back picking up most heavy stuff.

The courts have looked slow in some games and lightning fast in others. It depends on the style of play of both players.
It is not as if we never had long rallies at the USO between aggressors and counterpunchers before this week:

Simon with a set point. He is becoming more like Murray with the self berrating in French.

very amusing, if you understand French. This has been as badas (probably worse than) Murray in terms of having a go at himself. Still it seems to have worked there, he's taken the second set

Murray/Simon really isn't a match they'll be queueing up to watch. Push fest if they both feel that way inclined.

I thought he was going to blow that 2nd set after that ranting. He pulled through. Let's see if he can break the Del Potro serve.

Del Potro in a spot of bother now. A canny game being played by Gilles Simon as he just wears down the big Argentine.

Simon cruising now, Del Potro looks spent. People talk about Murray's body language but I always think Del Potro's is far worse, the whole slumped shoulder look makes him seem totally dejected

Traditionally they have been fast HC's and they're still faster than most HC's, but they have been playing extremely slowly this year. Don't know what you've been watching, but a lot of players and analysts have been commenting on their slowness. Even the USTA put out a statement regarding this.
Besides, I dedicated a whole thread to this on day 1 of the championship, if you care to pay attention. Fail again.

Delpo is totally clueless when he doesn't get the cheap unforced errors and has to run, it's a shame that Nalbandian wasn't playing Simon instead, afterall he is the better of the two argentines keep going Don Young

You need to make your mind up. When I suggested that IMO Nadal is a heavy favourite against everyone else at this year's USO except Djokovic, you replied:
Nadal is not a HEAVY favourite against Murray, Del Potro or Fed if those guys bring their best HC games. I think their fast HC games are superior to Nadal's, especially this Nadal.
Apart from last year's win at the USO, Rafa actually has a poor fast HC resume. Until he proves otherwise, that succes was an anomaly not the norm.
So which is it? Are the US Open courts fast and as such players with better "faster HC games" will beat Nadal or can you still not believe how slow the courts are playing this year? You cannot have it both ways.

This match reminds me of their match at Wimbledon. Simon was better for most parts but was unlucky a bit. He has been correcting that this time.

You need to improve your comprehension.
I've already stated that these are fast HC's. Fast being a relative term. In this case they are not as fast they traditionally have been in the past. Previously, the USO HC's have been similar in pace to Cincinatti. This year they are evidently slower, but they are still faster than Miami, Indian Wells and the AUS open, hence they are still considered fast HC's. I also made that statement earlier in the tournament with the expectation that the courts would speed up due to use and wear - this doesn't seem to be happening, yet.
Anything else that you need help with?

Del Potro battling on and Simon beginning to look a little fatigued now as we approach 3 hours 40 minutes of play. Simon serving to stay in the fourth set.
