Star Wars: The Old Republic
First topic message reminder :
Haven't seen a topic for this game, so thought I'd post as its one of the games I'm most looking forward to.
For those that don't know SWTOR is a upcoming MMO and the first from developer Bioware who's previous games included Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate among many other top titles. It hopes to build on the WoW formula by adding a fully voiced story element to the gameplay, coupled with additional fixes to improve on the experience many got from delving into WoW for the first time.
I've been eagerly awaiting this game since it was just a rumour back in 2005 and now it finally seems it will be released this year, I've not followed a game for so long since Dragon Age (2003) and Darkfall (late 90's) which both finally got released in the last few years. I'm looking forward to getting back into the MMO environment with SWTOR with the big thing being the game having an actual story line through the leveling process (Lv50) and beyond something that was sorely missing in WoW.
Here are a few recent videos for those that haven't been keeping an eye on this.
http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/eternity-vault-developer-walkthrough - First raid encounter in SWTOR.
http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/huttball - PvP minigame.
Anyone else out there looking forward to this?.

Which way are you going to take your Warrior Dass.
I've decided to go Marauder, I nearly went Juggernaut but rememberd how much of a chew on tanking was in WOW.

I'm a tank at heart so will be going Jugger, in the vengeance tree while leveling before respecing pure tank near 50.
Just spent last night running Black Talon multiple times with my Bro, very easy instance but the whole story aspect adds a wonderful touch. The experience so far is like getting to play a favourite single player RPG within a multiplayer environment.

Yeah i'm going carnage for leveling, then look into Annihilation for later levels and raiding, that seems a long way off.
I got sick of tanking in cata Wow after the lich king every one seemed to want to AOE everything and would cause wipes, instead of letting the Tank take its time mark up and progress through instances.
I agree on the single player enviroment within a muliplayer game, Bioware have stuck to what they do well and added a lot more to it.
Warcraft subscription is now cancelled.
I can't seem to stop playing either, even though i said i was going to be causal playing it. I really need to go a get the wife something for christmass but don't want to stop playing.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I went into it thinking I'll enjoy it for being a Bioware experience and getting back into a MMO again but didn't think I'd feel the same after vanilla WoW but now I'm in I'm hooked again.
I never tanked past BC so never had that experience, I just got bored with WoW around the build up to WOTLK and just decided to quit prior to coming out. Had stopped raiding nearly completely after 6mths into BC anyway.
I can feel a dark presence in this thread, watching, waiting... then again its prob just Fists pretending his resolve isn't crumbling.

I give Fists a week and he will be playing and hooked.
I think i'm going to have to stay logged in, i've had to wait 30 mins twice today. and these minutes feel like hours when you just want to play.

Hows the leveling going?
I'm up to 30 now and looking around tattaione, the thing with the story in this game makes leveling enjoyable and it doesn't feel like a grind to get to the top.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I'm currently 37 on my Jugger and on Alderaan, I've been completing each world before moving on meaning I'm often only getting green quests but I'm just trying to enjoy the experience rather than rush to 50. There certainly isn't a lack of quests available and the story lines so far are amazing to say the least.
I'm almost Dark V and have around 850k, after buying my speeder, 2 bag slots and a extra Bank bay. Found out today you can only have 50 things on the Galactic Market at one time which is a pain.
So far really enjoying the experience and the classes seem balanced enough despite he constant whining about some. Crafting needs a little love though again not as much as some seem to be saying.
Can't wait for raiding but in no great rush to get there but will prob still reach 50 easily by early Jan. Fists you're gonna crack sooner or later miht as well be sooner.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
My laptop has been broke since the beginning of December, this is the one thing that's wanting it to be sorted.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I meant to ask your opnion on the space missions, I had heard a lot of bad press about them, but now I've figured out what I'm doing in them I'm really enjoying them now.
Maccs you really need to get something sorted mate you are missing out on a great game.

Be surprised if it is released on XBOX or PS mate as it's subscription based.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
There was a big rumour before it was released on the PC that it was getting a console release but Bioware squashed it and said they were focusing on the PC version

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Finally got round to installing this last night and played it for about an hour. Loved it, chose the side of the Repbulic and went as a Jedi Consular. I'm on the Legions of Lettow server if anyones on there give me a shout.

I quit back in June 2013 as there wasn't enough content at end game for me. Went back at Christmas for 2 months and same problem. Good game just suffers for me personally with lack of raid content
