Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
Can you get taht commentry in the UK from a NZ site?
Im not sure I could bear the self love of a New Zealand presentation team, im streaming the ITV coverage which is suitably banal. Appears to mostly consist of reading from pre prepared player scripts.
Welll looks like any interest in this game is over alrweady.

It's still 15 - 0 at the moment as the third All Blacks try was disallowed due to crossing players....controversial decision though.

Thanks Cari but can't watch it at work. Will have to make do with the bbc text . Mind you it'll still be showing the half time score an hour after the match is over the way it's going!

Dagg's gets in the corner for a second try. Way too easy. No tackling from the Tongans.

Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
this is just to easy for the all Blacks, tonga is making fundamental errors, an isolated player in the back trying to run through all Black defence, then gets turned over and the tongan defence is at sixes and sevens.

Just looked at the sts on ESPN, seems to be a horribly one sided match

Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
Just as they seem to be making a little progress, the Tongans give away a penalty by going off their feet.
I think my prediction of Tonga getting 12 points from somewhere was optimistic.

Yes they can enjoy it but Carter is nursing his wrist is it worth the risk when the game is already in the bag.

I've ignored most of it to be honest...they're so quiet. Don't really say much considering.

Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
Its not that great to watch tbh. NZ all that would be expected of them. There is obviously a huge gulf in class but its annoying how much of the game is dominated by the errors.
Still - nice to see some of the NZ 'gamesmanship' being picked up by the ref

Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
Well NZ will be pretty happy with that first half. Nice to see Kahui and Dagg bag two tries each but they won´t have it so easy against better sides. The wingers keep coming in when they don´t need to creating space out wide. Carter seems to be kicking well.
Not all good news though. Cowan has an annoying tendency to send up rubbish kicks. His clearance is rubbish too at times with that Tongan penalty a classic example. The ball came out and a hospital pass to Tonga and then when the ball comes out he fluffs around. Oh for a player like Du Preez or Genia with a swift pass and decisiveness in the ruck area.
Ali Williams has a tendency to spill balls forward and gets himself into trouble on the wrong side of rucks. It was a useful rolling maul from Tonga and he was lucky it wasn´t in the AB 22. He can be a liability at times.
But overall NZ will be happy enough with that first half. Dagg is not as reliable as Muliaina and can try to force the play too much at times instead of going to ground but boy he has that x factor which you need to unlock stronger defences. Mils hopefully will fire himself up. Kahui looks strong and hungry so it´ll be interesting to see where he fits in later on. Certainly a better bet than Guilford.

In one of those stupid bits of timing that the world serves up for you, I find myself in east Europe missing the game. Just found an internet connection that works. Anybody got a match thread they want to PM me ?
