Dagg certainly is one to watch. Kaino the standout loosie.
Sbw has done well. Extra space for others.
Nonu ultra reliable. Toeava and kahui putting hands up.

You should use The Alternative Rugby Commentary on www.arcrugby.co.nz.

Agree Taylorman. Kaino had to stand up in Read´s absence and he has done just that. Strong on defence and even taking the ball up well. He has to show that he is a vital member of this backrow as well and he looks to be doing that.

SBW scores...no! It went forward, and Tonga stopped the try and turned it over. Great defence.

That selfishness from Williams has cost NZ a try.

Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
Cowan again not being vocal enough and after a great rolling maul, sees Owen Franks hold on. Cowan should´ve been slapping him on the back and screaming at him to release. Nice shape from Tonga on attack and then great defence from them to hold the ABs out. Weepu on and here´s hoping he can do a better job. Good to see Tonga holding shape and not folding.

Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
Nonu shows SBW what he had to do earlier and gets the ball out wide to Toeava and it´s a video decision for the try. Looks doubtful.

Toeava, that looks reminiscent of the disallowed try by England in the 2007 final, foot out.

Schoolboy error from a right winger. Keep the ball in the left hand and use the right to fend.

Tonga competing very well at the breakdown this half, another penalty for holding on.

Shane Williams is one of the best for being able to keep his legs off the white line when scoring in the corners.
But he does have a advantage of being closer to his toes than most.

Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
Just goes to show the momentum you get if the scoreboard is ticking over. Tonga are defending with much better shape now and ABs can´t get their game going.
Then a bit of luck and Kaino, who has been my best AB player out there, gets a deserved try from a nice bit of skill from Kahui.

What do you mean closer, he is adjacent to his toes.

Carter's having a strange one - nailing the difficult kicks and fluffing the easy ones.

Tonga can be proud, England usually get to do a lap of honour after a beating like this.

Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
Tonga nice and quickly up off the line and Carter gets tackled and Tonga with possession in the AB 22. Good to see them not giving up. Jane on right wing and Kahui goes to left wing. Good decision to see how he goes out there and nice to see Jane on.
Good chance for AB defence to be tested.

How far off side was that hit on DC? Clancy hang your head in typical NH referee shame.

Great play from Tonga. Not even contemplating going wide. Know their best chance is burrowing over the line. Good on them for keeping the hunger.

I'm going to let it go. If Clancy was having a good game, he lost it the second I started watching...

Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
ABs won´t be happy with the second half but let´s take nothing away from Tonga who have come back stronger. They deserve a try and their scrum is looking very handy. That will worry the NZ coaching staff.

Re: NZ v Tonga - match thread
Kahui man of the match. Slade on for Carter. Let´s see how the ABs respond. They can´t be happy with how they´ve failed to impose themselves. Maybe they thought it was all too easy at half time. Great to see Tonga playing with pride.
