England vs Argentina - match thread.
First topic message reminder :
My prediction was England by 10, so hopefully the Argentinians give a good account of themselves.
This will have to be a great match to live up to the one we have just seen.

England are very slow to get the ball out of the rucks. Slows down everything. Going to be a rough day in the office unless they can fix this.

Contepomi is not going to last this match, he's down injured again. It's the 3rd time and he looks to be in a lot of pain. Ribs maybe??

Argentina wont mind this type of game at all. I still feel England will have too much for them but referee Lawrence is starting to get on my nerves a bit.

Contepomi off
Argentina might very well struggle without him, he's just so key for them.

at last England play a bit of rugby, lovely break from Foden but a poor final pass to Armitage. England go to touch!
Contepomi off, huge blow to Argentina

Steve Thompson kisses his opposite number... surely one of the moments of the world cup..... absolutely hilarious.

Massive loss that is for Argentina. Maybe that will lead to the spark that England require.

Awh poor Dr C. I hope it's not the end of his RWC.
England likely to get a score from here now.
Well Thompson's not likely to pull anything better

Blimey first Paterson, now Wilkinson - both hugely consistent kickers missing for their teams today!

England win the hit, and the penalty.
Oh dear, Wilkinson misses an easy kick

All that talk about the black kits before the tournament began and the main thing it will be remembered for is the numbers coming off within the first 30 minutes. Bet the marketing men at Nike are not very happy.

Primark will be well chuffed.
It's a bummer for me cause I think I fancy one of the English forwards, but I don't know his number.

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
No arguments on the yellow, the ref's been picky but we can't argue it wasn't coming.
The NZ commentators are enjoying the numbers peeling issue. Can't imagine why.....

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
This is getting ridiculous. England need a strong show right now. And the longer the ball sits at the base of a ruck the greater the chance of another penalty.

A lot of the refs calls are 50/50... to be honest for the fist round of the RWC he should let most of those go.

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
Tiesi down, huge hit from Lawes unfortunately just as Tiesi was kicking the ball away, so he's in real trouble there

Bet it's Thompson, can understand why women would find him attractive...... NZ commentators think Lawes hit was late, not sure myself. Painful mind

The injuries are bad news for Argentina. But England need to take advantage - now. Get the ball and go forwards.

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
yep he's going off unfortunately. Wasn't dirty from Lawes, or even illegal, but the timing of the hit couldn't have been worse for Tiesi

I don't want Argentina to win per sé, but I hate to see teams lose because they've missed kicks.

what! why go for a drop goal there aregentina?? such a waste.

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
Now how was Argentina's maul not a penalty to England if Englands previous maul was to to Argentina????
The maul broke off into 2 with the ball at the back yet the front maul continued to drive back the english forwards and created a hole which the Argentinians ran into.
Message to the ref.... if you're going to be strict... fine. But be consistent.

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
It was a little late but not one that i would see as being dirty or intentional, more unfortunate.
The injuries must be a huge concern for Argentina.
