right on to the 1st of the cup finals this week and Chris Adams has named an unchanged squad for Surrey's decisive final game of the LV= County Championship season against Derbyshire at the Kia Oval.
The full Surrey squad to play Derbyshire at the Kia Oval is:

Certainly same 11 as last time provided everyone is fit. Probably just one of those things but I still think Nora not bowling a ball against Essex was odd and wonder if he has a niggle ....

Chris - He is sometimes known as the Gaffer by Surrey posters....

The alphabet theme was picked up briefly some weeks ago in one of the Surrey limericks when Ansari first made his mark in the first team:

"Who shall we pick - Schoey or G Batty?
Mused Adams for Essex T twenty.
But Z A - the Countdown alphabet
Soon proved the better bet
And so a new star: An- sar - i"

I would vote for "Alphabet" as his nickname - good suggestion Very Happy

- but we run a fairly democratic military establishment here so I will go with the Surrey majority!

Many thanks although I would prefer to keep ''Alphabet'' in the locker for now. Gaffer - as mentioned by Corporal - stems from an old boss of mine, Zafar the Gaffer!

Ansari is certainly one to watch out for. At this year's AGM Adams explained his early season absence from the squad due to being at Cambridge University, thus: ''Unusually for a cricketer, he's quite intelligent.'' Wink

I am very happy about this also as it has fallen on my 'weekend'.

As for Surrey, what an awful start! Interestingly just heard Churchy say that Lancefield has had loads of injury problems this season and is still with us, didn't sound like he thought he was going anywhere but I'd be surprised if he is still on the books next season.

He's only played one of their last 7 I believe, I assume his body isn't really up to the 4 day stuff anymore or he wasn't effective enough.

Hi folks,

Looking in from time to time when the Kommandant has his back turned and hoping to get along tomorrow.

I assume Goochie was serious about play delayed by 15 minutes due to ''crowd congestion''. Never heard of that at a county game!

Quite surprised we batted - thought it would have been good conditions for the Viscount.

Also very surprised that they have already got underway. Incredibly wet and windy first thing Guildford way. Guess the wind helped dry the pitch out once the rain stopped. Groundstaff must still have worked wonders though.

We should forget about Middlesex - they're already as good as up and won't crash against Hoggy's misfits. We just need to beat Derbys and hope Chris' Gloucs at least hold Northants ....
