so drink carrier to do what he does best and two more from zaffer, the viscount and meaker to miss out.
hard call for me on the two to miss out maybe the viscount and meaker?

Good batting after the rain break - everyone contributing. Fantastic that Spriegel got the winning runs

That sure puts one big cherry on the we got this week!
Very well done, boys! Great team performance.
Hyphen is my Man of the Match. Not just for his 78 runs but for the way he led the team in the field and mixed up our bowling.
Wonderful!

What a great finish to the season. Cannot tell you how happy I am. The boy's have turned a decent season into a fantasic one. Managed to get home in time to watch the last 20 overs and see us lift the trophy.

The winners cheque should cover an oversea's player for next season as well

The Surrey website now refers to Hyphen being Man of the Match. Don't know where they got that from (not here surely?!). At the presentation ceremony on tv, Atherton gave MoM to Jade Dernbach as voted for by the Sky panellists.

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
Adams approach to team selection has been fully vindicated. He's taken a fearful hammering at times (eg on the wallpaper site) for fielding bits and pieces players in the CB40. I guess the likes of Schofield and Spriegal have come into the CB games really hungry to perform..... It has probably helped the batsmen to know that in CB we can bat down to No 9 or even No 10....
Viscount and Meaker who have missed out from this team have really delivered in the cc and I think the dual approach has helped to keep the bowlers fairly fresh....

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
been out all day & just back to find out that we've won!!!
Its been great to join this Forum & share with such knowledgable posters as the Corporal, Guildford Bat et al........ If I still had the old subbuteo cricket set, I'd be trying to enact the day's match! The only negative thing is that the highlights don't seem to be available on terrestial TV
Fantastic performance & well done to everyone associated with Surrey CC! & commiserations to Somerset... must be galling to have got to so many finals in recent years & not won.... just glad though that it wasn't at Surrey's expense that they got their first trophy for some time....
Roll on next season

Chichester - you are too kind. Great to have you on board. Do hope we and others can meet up at Guildford next season.

Curious statistic - Dernbach played 8 CB40 matches this season without facing a ball. Good indication of how dominant we have been in the competition.

And another which indicates Dernbach's worth - despite only playing 8 matches, he was still our leading wicket taker in the competition.

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
Post match interviews on Surrey website from Hyphen, Adams, Dernbach and Spriegel were good.
There was one barbed comment from Adams who referred to certain people who had not wanted his regime to succeed - as well as the many who did want it work. (Maybe he's been spending too much time reading certain posts on the wallpaper site!! )

I understood that he was unavailable for county cricket next season. If that is not the case I am sure we would try to sign him.

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
i think somserset could have got towards 240, if compton hadnt got out the way he did. He looked really good at the crease, and attempted a stupid reverse sweep, him and buttler could have done some damage.

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
Hello everyone, apologies for my absence!
What a fantastic day Saturday was! I was indeed working all day but I recorded the whole match and watched it when I got home (much to the annoyance of Mrs. Carrot!). I have to say that at no point was I ever worried or did I ever think we wouldn't win, which was a very strange experience to say the least! Dernbach was superb, as was Buttler, but Hyphen stole the show for me. Such a controlled and mature innings from him that you don't usually see, he really led by example and played a captains knock. Amazing end to an amazing season, wish it didn't have to end now!

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
Maybe wrong but I think with 40 overs - at least these days - there isn't quite so much of the tedious and formulaic passages of play in the middle section of the innings you can often get in the slightly longer format of limited overs. (Or maybe that is down to the way Surrey play in the CB40 )

This is exactly what I think, Corporal. Although I like ODI's I find 40 over cricket more watchable for this reason, less stale in the middle overs because there are fewer! I wouldn't have a problem if international matches became 40 over affairs although I am interested to see what happens now that ODI's will have 2 new balls, one from each end.
Oh and guildford - I did thankfully! Although I do like the general chat and insight you get from the Sky coverage in the breaks

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
so with rory captaining surrey to promotion and cb40 success, surely that would quash the rumours of jon lewis joining to captain next year....
