Shipping goals: Liverpool
I was afraid that shipping three goals per game in pre-season was a bad habit.
Not much wrong with the rest of the team: was it 19 shots against Stoke?
But we're playing like a bad version of Tottenham: 9 strikers and someone to take throw ins.

Very poor today , thought Jose was going to bring Defoe down then and it would of been down to 8

I can actually see another getting sent off before it's over.
As I type it's just gone 3-0

I'm biased but dont think you can put today down to Dalglish , we haven't played well and Spurs have .

Re: Shipping goals: Liverpool
I'm a Utd fan and won't put this down as Kenny putting out the wrong team, simply Spurs came out flying and played at the top of their game today.
Re: Shipping goals: Liverpool
Im not putting it down to today I just dont think hes the man to take Liverpool forward though today when you went down to 10 men he stuck Carroll outwide and left Suarez upfront which made little sense to me when Suarez has a history of playing wide left and Carrolls touch and strength would have helped bring others into the game

Re: Shipping goals: Liverpool
I thought he put Carroll out wide to try and pull one of the centre halfs out to help the fullback when the ball was crossed to Carroll , to try and make space in the middle but thats just the way i read it .
It hasn't worked today thats for sure .

I think you better get used to results like that with Carragher and Coates looking set to be your centreback pairing for the near future you play to high up the pitch the 2 of them will be done for pace play to deep you don't have the pace to break on teams.

Re: Shipping goals: Liverpool
Surely u all realise that playing Carragher week in week out, who is at least five years past his 'best' can only lead to the team conceding goals? He is dreadful

Carra maybe past his best but i dont agree he's dreadful , hes probably on his way out of the team but i still think he has a part to play .

It is only because he is local that he gets away with it, been a liability for at least 5 years

Carra is well passed it. I have just watched the highlights and he left Liverpool terribly exposed on more than a few occasions. He needs dropping.

Re: Shipping goals: Liverpool
Skrtel should not have started at right back, as a centre back there was no way he was going to be fast enough to keep up with Bale, despite Flanagan's inexperience he should have started so he could at least compete with Bale for pace.
Charlie Adam looked really out of his depth, a silly red card to get.

I don't remember Bale beating Skrtel for pace once. It was the ball inside Skrtel (in between him and Carra) that caused the problems. Skrtel's lack of experience at RB showed as he was constantly out of position and Spurs used this ball down the channel time and time again knowing full well Carra would be too slow to come across and cut it out. Skrtel/Carra should have played the other way around. As it was Carra kept retreating further and further back as the game went on, meaning we were inviting Spurs on and leaving huge gaps between our midfield and forwards, leaving Suarez and Carroll virtually redundant. The decision to then move Carroll to left wing was totally baffling.
Anyway, Kenny's been known to be ruthless in the past and he's gonna have to be with Carragher. He should no longer be a permanent fixture.

Re: Shipping goals: Liverpool
Kenny, as much of a legend for the club he is, is tactically clueless - he has been found out before and he will again.
Carragher is too slow and a liability, he has been for 5 years - and how Daglish can't see that is beyond me!!

Re: Shipping goals: Liverpool
The key thing for me was the way Spurs controlled the midfield, even 11 v 11.
Liverpool will recover from this, no doubt, but Spurs were miles ahead on the day, and Walker at right back was very impressive..in attack at least.

Think Adam is also too slow, Parkr and Modric ran rings around Liverpool's midfield, like you say Sodhat, even with 11 v 11

I know its not regarded as important but i would like to see us but out a strong side against Brighton in the Carling cup as another loss would be damaging to confidence .
