Wales V Namibia - Team Thread Etc Etc
First topic message reminder :
OK over the last round of matches we have seen both Englnad and Scotland have the chance to change good % of the team and have look at other players but because of the physiciality of our group we not had that chance and won't be able to against Fiji.
SO, and with no offence to the Namibians this game will be our only chance to rotte some of the players so here's what I would do and why if all fit
Jenkins (needs game time)
Burns
Mitchell
Davies
AWJ
R Jones
Powell
Warburton
Knoyle
Hook (not working at XV)
Brew
Davies
Sc Williams
North
Halfpenny
James,Owens,Charterris,Faletau, L Williams, S Jones Byrne
QUite few changes butt hat side should still be able to get the bp win we need

Duly converted by Wellies.
22 - 0.
Wales need to keep going though and not take their feet off the gas. That's how the Saffas racked up a huge score. They just carried on as they were.

To be fair to Namibia, they're doing a good job of pushing Wales back and forcing the errors at times.

Re: Wales V Namibia - Team Thread Etc Etc
Namibia miss their penalty - just goes wide. Score remains unchanged.
Wales really need to watch the penalties. Keep their compsure and patience. The tries will come.
They've been in the 22 for the last few minutes which isn't good.

That's better...shame about the miss pass. High tackle on Lee Byrne, but he's all right. Wales get the penalty and Welllies sends it to the bottom corner.
Namibian captain not happy with the ref it seems. Wales win the line out....and then Wales concede a penalty

Geez, Walsh needs a ruler the high tackle was 5 meters in not on the 10 meter.

Re: Wales V Namibia - Team Thread Etc Etc
And another stupid penalty. This is very frustrating. Wales are putting the work in, getting possession and territory, then giving the penalties away at the 5/10 metre line.

Re: Wales V Namibia - Team Thread Etc Etc
Namibia doing a good spoiling game, really making us work for it in this last 20mins although we aren't helping ourselves at all. Some really poor support play at times and stupid mistakes.
Gatland won't be happy at half time.

Thankfully Namibia missed that kick as well...they could have six points on the board now. I hope wales sort themselves out in the second half.

Re: Wales V Namibia - Team Thread Etc Etc
well did we all hoenstly think Namibia would jsut stand off and let us run in tries for fun?
Blimey guys give them some credit, I know we aren't helping ourselves but Namibia have re-grouped after the first 20mins and good for them are playing their hardest to stop us scoring more points.
And now off to work for me.
Hope Wales play smarter in the 2nd half, that last 20mins was not their best but plenty for us to work on.
Ymlaen Cymru.

Re: Wales V Namibia - Team Thread Etc Etc
goods start, but we were awful for the last 20 minutes there, far too lazy, giving away silly penalties, and far too many forwards not doing their jobs, hanging around in the back line looking for tries.

Re: Wales V Namibia - Team Thread Etc Etc
Not at all Dreamer. I said earlier they were doing a great job of pushing Wales back and forcing errors, but we've made a lot of silly ones of our own when we're in a good position to score. That's the frustrating thing.

On the upside, our defence has been good when we've needed it. Also think Halfpenny and Jon Davies have had good games so far.

Re: Wales V Namibia - Team Thread Etc Etc
I think that south africa match will catch up with them soon, they will need to make a lot of early changes in the second half, then we could hit them hard, remember south africa were only 38-0 up going into the last 20 minutes, and they will be even more tired for us than they were against south africa.
Aside from maybe taking off Faletau and Warburton, i dont think wales should change the team in the second half, we need to keep everyone fresh.

Re: Wales V Namibia - Team Thread Etc Etc
The problem that major teams have with minnows is to keep to their structure and individual players to stick to their basic tasks, everyone wants to get ball in hand and score a try, but the reality is you still need to do the hard work first, Gatland will remind them of that and Wales will be much better in the second half.

We don't need a massive score what we need is a good performance.
Byrne looks fine so far and RJ looks comfortable.

No, the problem is that Walsh is giving all the 50-50s to Namibia and Wales need to play him a little better.

Samoa can boast players from Bath, Castres, Clermont, Exeter, Gloucester, Leicester, London Irish, Wasps, New Castle, Northampton, Ospreys (2), Sale (2), Stade Français, and Tolouse....
Where on earth is New Castle - next to Car Diff or perhaps closer to New Port?

If theyd only scored that 4th try, we could of skipped the second half and spent the next 50 minutes looking at the tv presenters legs.

would like to see the forwards taking it upin pods rather than individuals. force the namibs to commit to the breakdown and then the space will appear
