Golf Trivia
Ok folks, here's the question:
Before he pulled out of the BMW Championship after two rounds last week Steve Stricker held the current record for most consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour with 40. Now his run has ended, Charl Schwartzel is the current leader with 20 consecutive cuts.
Who is currently second with 13 consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour?

Re: Golf Trivia
Steve Stricker still holds the lead with consecutive cuts. A withdrawal due to injury does not go down as a missed cut especially in an event where there is no cut!
So Charl is still second in that context..........

Re: Golf Trivia
I know what the record book says and can only remark that there's a Tiger Woods connection - hope that doesn't give it away.
But it's incomprehensible that Stricker is denied an official "cut" for withdrawing from a no-cut tournament. Rule book gone mad - haven't they got anything better to do in Flinchem's office than to come up with such a phoney ruling? Utterly daft.

Mav, according to the article above Stricker did in fact miss the cut in an event that has no cut. Seems odd to say the least!!

Re: Golf Trivia
Thats just outrageous, how can they do that, not only endng his cut record in a no cut event classing injury withdrawal as a missed cut is a joke. Bet if it was TW they would'nt pull that.
But that points out that Charl has not made 2o Consecutive is in fact 18 and surprisingly the name at No3 on the list Coltart!
The top 5 according to tour report
1. Steve Stricker - 40
2. Charl Schwartzl - 18
3. Andrew Coltart - 13
4.Charles Howell III - 11
5.Gary Woodland - 10

Re: Golf Trivia
I think Byron Nelson's cut streak of 113 was also ended by injury.

Re: Golf Trivia
I saw that stat when watching the PGA last week and was quite shocked by Coltart's name being on there. Was he on the PGA tour one year? Tried to look at his stats on the PGA website that night but couldn't find anything.

Re: Golf Trivia
Ahhhhh haaaaa!!!
Seems Coltart's 13 PGA events consist of British Opens, USPGA & WGC Events from 1998-2002 with him increasing this when he qualified for the Open after an 8 year absense in 2010 and made the cut.

Re: Golf Trivia
mmmh at that rate Coltart should take over from Tiger as the most consecutive cuts in PGA history by the year 3016.
