Wes Welker for Ryan Matthews and Dexter McCluster?

To be honest, I don't think there is any reason for me to hold on to Welker as I could do with the additional depth of Matthews and McCluster. But I just don't think I can part with him after his two monster weeks - he practically won my matchup on his own last week. What would you guys do in the situation?

Personally I'd prefer to have matthews and Dexter on my roster.
Matthews is proving to be a class act after last years injury woes and Dexters value has gone through the roof given Baldwins and Jamaals injury, if he could look after the football he'd be an effective back as well (averaging over 5 yards a carry).
Welker is one of 7 potential targets for NE and whilst he cornered the market on Sunday there's guarantee he'll get so many targets in weeks to come.

That's what I was thinking as well - it's just hard to give up someone with the potential for such huge weeks.

Also depends on the rest of your squad , How good is the player being left out of the starting line up
2nd point is you would have to drop someone to make room for the extra player

As the Welker owner in the West league I think it's worth bearing in mind that he is currently the highest scoring WR by over 13 points on NFL.com and is the 4th highest scoring player of any position. He's on track to gain 2500 yards of offense and 21 TDs. Obviously he's unlikely to be able to maintain those kind of numbers but I'd want to make sure that what I was getting in return at least offered that kind of potential. It depends on who else you have in your team but would either of those players be considered a genuine number 1 RB in the way that Welker is playing as a WR. I know that the players in my team certainly offer more than McCluster and I think the jury is still out on Mathews.

I'd go for it.

Running backs are more solid performers than wide receivers. Matthews for Welker is a good enough deal on its own. McCluster is still much of a wait and see player but could offer good value as a WR considering he is playing at RB.

A bird in the hand, I say. Welker is money. Ryan is good, but McCluster is on a crap team (sorry Griz!) so who knows what he's going to get you, so I think it's a wash.

But then again, I have the worst team in the history of fantasy football, so what the hell do I know.

I agree. Anyone thinking of trading Welker away after his performance to date wants his bumps felt. Unless he (or Brady) gets injured he's got to be looking at exceeding 1000yds this season.

In another league I have shonn Greene, is trading him away for Daniel Thomas a fair deal?

I would take that deal, Thomas is likely to keep getting more carries. He will share carries at times with Bush but eventually Bush will prove he just doesn't cut it. Greene doesn't seem to be able to do it unless it's in the playoffs. Unfortunately fantasy football season is done by then!

I can only see Thomas' stock rising!

Mojo - I wouldn't say Bush can't cut it in the NFL, he just isn't an every down back. He is a very effective 3rd down back and punt returner, so is valuable to a team that already has an every down back (such as the Saints). I think you are right that Thomas will end up with more carries, but I think Bush will be on the field a lot too.

SuperTanker how good a deal it is for you depends on who you're going to cut to have the roster space, and what depth you already have at RB and WR, but from the basics of Welker for Matthews and McCluster I would say no to the trade.

Pr4wn that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Depends on your rb situation, if you need an rb badly then do it. Effectively you would be trading a number one receiver for a RB2 and WR3 (yes I do think Wayne had been that bad)

Really depends on your need for an RB, if you are desperate for an RB then it would be acceptable but there are better RB's than Shonn Greene and if you're prepared to give up Roddy White to get them then they should be available to you. Would Wayne start for you every week?

Keep Welker in SD there is 2 man committee in Matthews and Tolbert, and the latter is seeing a lot of snaps which impacts Matthews worth
