Edinburgh v Munster
Munster Announced Team
Wian du Preez, Deni Fogarty, John Hayes
Dave Foley, Mick O'Driscoll
Tommy O'Donnell, Paddy Butler, Niall Ronan
Peter Stringer, Ian Keatley
Lifeimi Mafi, Tom Gleeson
Denis Hurley, Scott Deasy, Johne Murphy
Replacements (16-23): Mike Sherry, John Ryan, Stephen Archer, Ian Nagle, Peter O'Mahony, Duncan Williams, Danny Barnes, Simon Zebo.
Weak enough backrow without Coughlan, Ryan, Leamy, Wallace or O'Mahony and it could be a worry. Its probably the weakest team we have picked yet but hopefully we can claim a win.

Re: Edinburgh v Munster
Very unusual back row - must be giving POM a break given he has played all 4 games to date.
Strange team full stop. Definitely weakest team we have fielded lots of inexperience with Deasy, Gleesom, TOD, Paddy Butler, DF.
Zebo cant seem to nail a starting place???
On the postive side, its a strong looking bench with Sherry, Archer, POM, Barnes all capable of turning things around.

Meant to say that we will be doing very well to secure 4 points here.

Re: Edinburgh v Munster
Not the strongest Edinburgh team in the world but a few still enough talent. Denton, Laidlaw, Visser need big games. I''d have expected Godman to feature.
Why do Edinburgh have so few second rows?

We don't need 2nd rows because we have about 17 centres. It's part of an SRU scheme to play as many centre combinations as we can to try and avoid using Graeme Morrison in an international Test Match ever again.
Honeslty Staggy I dunno. It's a bit of a pain though having no Grunt in the engine room.
I'll be interested to see how the backs fire. JT is back at 15 which is his prefered position and with Jones and big Timbo on the other wing It's a pretty good strike runner threat we'll be bringing along. I am curious to know what has happened to Ben Cairns though.
Gregor Hunter is due a big game, heres hoping we see it this weekend.

Re: Edinburgh v Munster
I will be extremely happy if we win this. Our away performances have been shaky. Cardiff Blues had the beating of us last week and lets face it Glasgow aren't much of a challenge in their current state.
I think that Denis Hurleys wing should be looked at being exploited from a Edinburgh point of view. He was poorly positioned on numerous occasions last week and we very nearly paid the price. This could actually be a game with some tries. I agree that the Scottish stike runner threat is there.

Re: Edinburgh v Munster
What has me most interested it puting Matt Scott at outside centre, he is an Elite development player, just a youngster at 19 years old who normally plays at Stand Off.
It'll be interesting to see what he does at 13, he is a big lad at 6ft 2" and 15st he'll take some stopping at full gallop. Defenitly one for the future.

Re: Edinburgh v Munster
I can't say I know your centres. I know King by reputation but never seen him play.
I'm hopeful Munster will have a big final 15 miutes where they can either pull away or else come back from defeat as the case may be. Sherry, Zebo, Nagle, O'Mahony, Archer and Barnes are all arguably better than the guys selected.

Try telling that to Leinster!red_stag wrote:I will be extremely happy if we win this. Our away performances have been shaky. Cardiff Blues had the beating of us last week and lets face it Glasgow aren't much of a challenge in their current state.

Re: Edinburgh v Munster
Radge or Asbo - are there any playmaking backs in Scotland. You have excellent some seriously strike runners. A 10 or a 12 who could unleash them would make you very very dangeorus team.

Someone must have told Treviso! Leinster just never got that email.
Reluctant as I am to back any team v an Irish province. Will youse lads ever give them a hiding, and stop them running away with the league again.

Asbo is bang on with this pick. Add Bennett at clermont to the mix and we have some potential for some try scoring menace in a couple of seasons

Thanks Asbo - I only really know Jackson, Weir and Blair. Looking forward to seeing how the others come through.

Rumour in Embra is that Cairns has done an ACL, but no confirmation from the club.RuggerRadge2611 wrote:red_stag wrote:Why do Edinburgh have so few second rows?

As regards 2nd rows, an area we were relatively strong in 2/3 years ago was destroyed by the SRU (McKie) policy of shipping out anyone who looked like a forward. Exacerbated by Moffat and now Bradley's policy of only signing 'promising' backs.

Re: Edinburgh v Munster
I think I'll post here before going onto the depressing stuff on the international board.
Matt Scott showed us where Scotland's tries will come from in the future. What a game he had last night.
Dave Denton too was rampaging all night long. Edinburgh richly deserved the win over a very tough Munster outfit.

Re: Edinburgh v Munster
How have Edinburgh been doing the past few weeks? I have been keeping up to date with the scores but obviously doesn't tell you much about performances on an individual level.
There were some mixed results up until that Munster game - seemed to come out the blue!
So who have the stand out players been? How have the young guys performed? I can't believe how young a team we have just now - especially the backline!

Amazing result - just a shame that Edinburgh had to lose the previous week.
