That's true, tbh I'm just sulking at how bad Edinburgh's year has been! It's been mortifying with all the English friends I've got rubbing it in that a Scottish team can only fluke once in a while and never perform when everyone expects them to!
In all fairness I'm keen to see how Cairns gets on! He never really got a proper shot in the Scotland jersey and I'd like to see him perform well and return for Scotland!

I'm tipping edinburgh to win. Really like the team selection and there are a few playing for their 6 nations places.

Nothing to lose for Edinburgh and over the years these are the games they tend to win - out the competition and nothing to play for!

We're all hiding!
Theres not much to to get excited by lately from a Munster point of view. Theres plenty of talking points though, the main ones being Penneys style of play and ROG vs Keatley. The center partnership also seems to be getting plenty of criticism.
Penney is trying to play like they do in NZ but its taking a while for Munster to get to grips with it. There are positive signs every so often but theres no consistency. One thing that has been consistent is that Munster look a different team with Keatley at 10. They look more dangerous. ROG isn't the only problem but theres a clear pattern emerging. He won't be dropped for Munster though and will come off the bench for all of Irelands 6 nations games.
There are plenty of positives this season. POM, Zebo, Murray, Tommy O'Donnell, Sherry even Archer have all improved this season. Dave Kilcoyne has been a superb find and already is better than Du Preez and there are others too. If Munster can squeeze into the 1/4 they could spring a surprise yet.
I'm expecting a good match against Edinburgh depending on the weather.

Well it's crystal clear today here in Edinburgh, great conditions for rugby. Let's hope it lasts. I certainly don't want to go toe to toe with Munster in the rain!

Got to agree with Profitius - it's hard being a Munster supporter at the moment But better days will come (D.V.)
And it's not only the supporters who are confused
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2013/0111/1224328670308.html
But we know the team are not happy with their performances either
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2013/0111/1224328670525.html
Personally I wish ROG would sail off gracefully into the sunset, occasional cameo roles off the bench would suit me fine with him. Keatley is so much better now, but then I look at tomorrow's team and my heart sinks - again.
And here are the teams
EDINBURGH: G Tonks; D Fife, B Cairns, M Scott, T Visser; G Laidlaw (capt), R Rees; A Jacobsen, S Lawrie, WP Nel, G Gilchrist, S Cox, S McInally, D Basilaia, D Denton. Replacements: A Titterrell, R Hislop, G Cross, N Talei, R Grant, P Francis, B Atiga, S Visser.
MUNSTER: F Jones; D Howlett (capt), K Earls, J Downey, S Zebo; R OGara, C Murray; D Kilcoyne, D Varley, BJ Botha, D OCallaghan, D Ryan, P OMahony, T ODonnell, J Coughlan. Replacements: M Sherry, W Du Preez, S Archer, B Holland, P Butler, D Williams, I Keatley, C Laulala.

We know what we have to do. Less of the Penneyball and more of old Munster. Crush them up front early on. One try before half time would be nice. Bring Keately on early in second half.

COME ON MUNSTER
A combination of both is what is needed.
The old Munster of pick and go's and blindingly obvious pods 3 metres off the ruck are of little use now as a primary gameplan.

I don't get one thing. If you want to chuck it about a bit, why bench Laulala?

I saw a stat a few weeks back. Lualala and Downey have played over 30 games this season for Munster between them and scored 1 try. JJ Hanrahan played 1 game in the center an scored 2 tries. Both good players bt for whatever reason they're just not clicking.

Looking forward to this game. I was hoping Francis would remain at 10 because him and reese were linking up very well last game vs Leinster. But hopefully Laidlaw cranks it up a notch today, I will be watching him like a hawk! Good to see nel starting, he must have restored all oxygen levels after his awesome try, more of the same please nel. hopefully gchrist has a good one and puts his hand up for Scotland selection.

You can't judge their effectiveness based soley on how many tries they scored between them, that's a tad silly.
Maybe how many yards they made/lost in contact?
Maybe how many linebreaks made/conceeded?
Maybe how many wins?
Maybe how many tries scored by Munster?
Then compare those stats to Downey-Earls.
Downey-Lualala puts much more fear in my bones that the other and Munster looked pretty good at the start of the season when they were playing those 2 in the centre.

OK it is snowing outside my flat, about 2 miles from the ground. Assuming the game goes ahead it might be time to watch it in a nice warm pub rather than at Murrayfield.

Come on Edinburgh!!! Lets regain some bloody pride!
I'm gonna make a big call and say Reese and Laidlaw combo will work really well today, Reese must be itching to play after being on bench so much lately.
Good luck Munster too!

Re: Edinburgh v Munster
Ref is very strong with the sealing off rule. both teams have had bad calls against them.
ROG is a legend but surely if Munster are going to get a TBP win then a more attacking option is required.
Earles is having a great game though
