Re: Rankings
Hi sportslover
I think your question should be if, when and can ??
I think we all know he can.. But I certainly think that he has to knuckle down to do so. Djokovic has raised his game considerably over the last months and I know that Andy could do likewise. He is most definitely in the doldrums and I think we need to hope that before he can overtake Soderling he does not slide further. Thats no comfort I know but if he could string a few successes together he might get some of his confidence back. Sadly Andy is his own worst oponent at the moment

Re: Rankings
Andy went off the boil when he lost the Oz Open to Federer and
I don't think that, mentally, he has recovered.
All he needs is ONE Slam and the flood-gates will open
But I STILL advocate a sports shrink

coach quite a while back sportslover !!
I WISH Andy would accept the honour

Re: Rankings
Errm, i wonder if the combination of McEnroes ahem"flare" with Andy's intensity would bring the worst out in him ?
Still, can't argue with BigMacs history of slams and wins.

Re: Rankings
That is interesting about Big Mac putting himself forward to coach Andy .. if my memory serves me rightly he did the same with Tim Henman... it fell on stoney ground. Love Mac as I do but I would think that being coached by him would require nerves of steel.. I dont somehow think that Andy has a bullet proof vest especially if his Mum is around.. John Mac and Mrs Murray would not be a good mix i.m.o.

Mrs.M would just have to bite her tongue and leave John & Andy to get on with it.
A few choice words would be regularly exchanged between John & Andy but as they both speak the same language there shouldn't be any problems - Dream on 8)

Well S.L. I dont think anyone has made Mrs M. bite her tongue yet and I
wouldn´t put money on Johnny to do so... but It would be one helluva match-up thats for sure.

If he is going to pay Mac "Big $" for advice I think he will listen to Mac and Mum will have to take a back seat yummy

Re: Rankings
I agree sportslover
Judy is going to HAVE to realise that she doesn't control
No 2 son any more !! I KNOW she's proud of him but she
needs to get a grip on reality and realise that Master Murray
needs a stern, STRONG, task master
(finK)

Re: Rankings
Anyway it's all hypothetical as he doesn't seem to be making any moves to getting a coach.
Or maybe work is being done as we speak and he may surprise us all.
Here's hoping

A Coach A Coach
My Raquet for a coach (With apologies to W, Shakespeare)

He has such ability and tennis nous that he is so FRUSTRATING !

Re: Rankings
yummy
I think Mrs. M. needs to learn to let go. Im sure that Andy would be a lot better if she just stayed to being his Mum and not trying to interfere with his tennis.
Like your Mum teaching you to drive

Re: Rankings
I'm not sure she has that much input into Andy's day to day decisions, she has so much other stuff to be getting on with, coaching, admin, food-shopping etc, just turning up to watch him must be quite an effort diary wise.

Re: Rankings
Well, going by interviews and appearances, I'd say she is taking more of a back-seat than a few years ago, but I'm not a fly on the wall around the Murrays household, so couldn't really say for sure.

Re: Rankings
Andy is only defending 10 points at Miami ( ) Soderling defending 360, so Andy could effectively take No4 at the end of this tourny. IF he goes on a run, and Sod has a stutter. Can't really tell as IW was a write off for both of them

Thanks for that MTS.......it would be great if Andy could get back to #4.
