Anybody feel sorry for France?
Having watched the semis you gotta feel sorry for France. They are looking at a serious humping at the hands of the NZ team. It could be a 50 point drubbing. We might all be watching the French get smashed through our fingers clamped over our faces in dread at what we see happening to them.
Having said that, if it does happen then it must say something about the competition. For two seriously un-matched teams to make the final something strange must have happened. The best final would probably have been a SA v NZ match.

No. They are spoiled brats (even their coach says it!)

It's all Ireland's fault for ruining the draw with their win over Aus!

I guess all Wales fans hope that they do get a humping by NZ.
But this is the type of game that France could just come out surprise, the game where every one is expecting them to get smashed, and they turn the tables big time and the French do the humping.
But then again having seen how both teams played at the week end, you would only expect an All Black win.

There were comments in the pool stages that France would pull one out of the bag against NZ.

Re: Anybody feel sorry for France?
I'm backing France.
They are the best worst opponent that I've ever seen or read about in a world cup final.
Not one person gives them a chance. The SH media hate them with a undisguised passion, and the northern media aren't far behind.
The other coaches hate them. Players are contemptuous. The bookies have them at 7/1 whilst NZ are 1/9. NZ fans on other boards are hoping to put 50+ points on them.
Their own coach thinks they're spoilt brats.
What more could you want from an underdog?
Vive la France!! Allex les Bleus. Stuff those sheep-shaggers until their shirts turn pink.
Or at least score some tries anyway and give us a match.

Re: Anybody feel sorry for France?
I hope I do feel sorry for them by Sunday evening. It's either that or feel incredulous and sulky as a result of France having won it. Being hounded by the reminder of France having become world champs is not my idea of an ideal final year living in the place, especially as they ousted Wales in the process. It's more than I can bear even imagining France as RWC winners by the way they've played.

So, if France beat NZ in NZ in a World Cup Final there are still going to be some people saying 'humbug, they don't deserve it!'?

Oh I'd say you could bet your life on it. They'll be the worst final winners of all time. Ever.
England will secretly break out the champagne as their record is broken.

Re: Anybody feel sorry for France?
am not too worried about his game - all pressure is on NZ. As long as french players are not scared or too nervous they will escape a hammering. they should still lose and probably not score tries but expect them to hurt the ABs players and leave a few bruised bodies. after that if piri weepu doesnt score his penalties early in the game, who knows, they might get nervous, a brawl could start after nallet bites mccaw ear (and 2 players from each team sent off) and france could just win 6-5 thanks to a last minute drop goal from parra. this is the best we can expect from ML legions

Re: Anybody feel sorry for France?
Who`s kidding who,France have played there top game for about 20 minutes in the pool game versus NZ.Against Tonga they needed 1 point ,in the last minute Penalty, scrum, try job done.
They could have put Tonga away with ease had they wished, they`ve cruised thru to the final.
With hardly any injuries without a breaking a sweat, the All Blacks have gone thru. Two bruising matches, lost key players and carrying a lot of bruises.
The NZ media half are saying, job not finished, beware a repeat of history.
The coaches and players are under no illussions they KNOW they will have to go up a gear on Saturday.
As an All Black fan,I expect at last the All Blacks will triumph,BUT it won`t be easy or by a big margin.

Possibly Alan.
but it should be a big margin. As a team, losses to Tonga and 20 to the ABs already, almost failing to put a 14 man Wales away should mean a big win for the AB;s.
Based on the relative merits of the teams the final demands a big win- if it isnt, the Ab's will have not met their potential.
Yes its a world cup, yes its a final, but what logic says one should raise their game more than the other?
I picked wins by a minimum of 20 in this tournament and if not for 5 missed kicks against Oz in a performance where 14 flattered Oz this would be the case so far.
I expect it to stand for the final as well. If we don't, we will have regressed. Teams are supposed to build towards the final. AB's look as though they are doing just that. France don't.

Re: Anybody feel sorry for France?
I expect them to get thumped..but
In the pool game they dominated for the first 20, a certain Dan Carter tore them to shreds for 15 mins. They gave up (no point in killing themselves). Guess who is missing in the final.
If Canada had not beaten Tonga does anyone seriously think they would have lost that game. They scored the try in the last minute with contemptuous ease..
They easily accounted for England . No matter what happened in the second half the game was over at halftime
They almost came unstuck against Wales yet for lots of the game they controlled the flow of the game and even at the end wales with all the momentum couldnt get a clear drop goal attempt from a reasonable distance
Et voila...they are in the final, at the back of the abs minds they think last Sunday was their final, everyone looks at France and no matter how much we think they could possibly win subconciously no one gives them a chance
Fascinating or what...except if you are from New Zealand. Squeeky bum time as a certain wendyball manager says.
