International roolz
Kinda live scores. I am not at work today.
I am gonna watch the start, then i am going out for a bit before watching the rest of it.
Whatever about Cluxton not talking to the media, he just gave his chat to the huddle in the middle of the field and he had them all ready for battle. a few eyes bulging.
The Aussies start the brighter but the Irish strike first through a young lad called Tommy something or other.....never heard of him.

Good start. Aussie’s kicking is atrocious though. hope they don’t get used to the ball any time soon.
I’m not going to be in a position to see any more of the match, can someone post the score in here please and thanks?

Emmett Bolton goes down under an Aussie challenge and must receive attention - he took a knock to the head.
Brad Green is fouled on the Ireland 20-metre line. Green claims a behind with the resulting free. Australia 23 Ireland 50

Bit of handbags after Bolton's injury, play resumes then Donaghy calls a mark. From on the 20-metre line he fires the ball in for an over. Australia 23 Ireland 53.

McKernan fires in a truly awesome over from near the 45. Australia 23 Ireland 59. Australia win a free on the Ireland 13m line and Gray taps it over. Australia 26 Ireland 59

Re: International roolz
Goal in the first quarter for Michael Murphy.
Kennelly and Tommy Walsh (understandably) running things. Stephen McDonnell got a ridiculously good over.
Patrick Kelly just linking things all over the field in his usual understated way. Apart from the goal, Murphy has been class.
The three names you'll hear are Murphy, Walsh and Kennelly. everyone else has been tidy and hard.
Not hearing too much from Aidan Walsh on the ball but his tackling has been top notch for something he isn't used to.

Gray adds another over from 20-metres out as the hooter sounds for the end of the third quarter. Australia 29 Ireland 59.

McDonnell is played in on the Aussie goal, wide right. He storms at the nets and manages to fluff his lines as he miscontrols the ball. But he recovers possession and from the most acute of angles he lashes home past Suckling. Australia 29 Ireland 74. Australia follow with another wide.

Forgot the bastardised no-rules football was on today. Aus 30- Ire 77 now. Didn't expect a scoreline like that, the Aussies will employ crocodile dundee for the 2nd test.
For those of us living within the confines of the evil empire the game will be repeated on ESPN Irish Isles at 4-45 pm later on.

You don't have ESPN on telly Cari. Or is it Sly Sports for the rugby coverage?

No, I only have Freeview which has no sports channel. I usually watch Sky/ESPN on the internet somewhere if someone streams it. I have a link to some regular streams.

Oz 36-80 Eire
You're not missing much anyway, apart from ESPN and a few other things I don't really watch too much telly. They've got a cheek to tell you there's never anything on, mostly repeats you get tired of seeing years ago and weird Poopie I wouldn't bother watching.
Seems like a total reverse of last year. By the sound of it Australia never had enough room to breath and the Gaelic invaders walked over the top of them. At least Ireland had better accuracy then oz, last time out was an embarrassment. I'd start the cage fighting training for the next match.

Really, sounds like the Irish boys blew them away. Aussies don't like to loose in any sport, the next game could be a blood bath. I'll watch the highlights tonigh.

Re: International roolz
A total horsing.
e-mails in to tg4 saying "The end of international rules"......"If the Aussies doen't take this seriously, what is the point".
I don't know how good or bad that aussie team is at their own game, but they were certainly no good at this one. The quick release of the ball from the Irish and the running off the shoulder are skills they should have as well but they didn't look anywhere close to being up for it.

Re: International roolz
The Aussies are only interested when a trip to Europe is on the cards. But still - do the rules favour the Irish or Aussies more? Why don't they play one half Aussie Rules and the second half gaelic football, make it much more interesting. Ditto for the hurling/shinty. Rules looks like a simple game to me, the Irish lads should have no problem picking it up.
I see Eoin Kelly is out for the return leg as he's injured. It's funny watching the hurlers trying not to catch the ball.

Re: International roolz
i think the rules favour us sliightly.
The shape of the ball is a huge factor. The tackle benefits them hugely but it looks like we have learned to move the ball quicker......I suppose that is us negating the areas of advantage they have.
The stick compromised rules massively favours the Scottish.

Re: International roolz
Apparently, there will be a "compromise rules" match between the Irish Rugby & soccer teams next year. The rules will be:
Oval ball
No handling allowed
Rugby posts
4 referees
2.646 points for a "sideline" ie you have to kick it over the sideline without the ball bouncing.
7.98 points for a "trygoal" ie you must kick the ball so that it hits the padding on either side of the posts. Opposition players are prohibited from being 5 metres from these padded posts.
11.69 points for an "under and over" ie you kick the ball over the bar and then under the bar from the other side and thios must happen within 10 seconds of the "over"................................

Has there been any news on Emmet Bolton? Looks like his injury was pretty serious. Also, the entire team were grounded in getting to Sydney cause of a strike by Qantas staff cancelling their flight.

Re: International roolz
Thoroughly enjoyed the Cross/St Galls game yesterday. It had a bit of everything some superb finishing by Armagh County player Jamie Clarke, some hard hitting have tosay some of it wasnt legal. When they established a lead Cross never looked under pressure although they did give up to soft goals to high balls into the full forward.
Cross v Ballinderry promises to be another worthwhile gme at this time of the year and if Burren can make it through their side of the draw Ulster could still see new club champions.
I did see Dr Crokes won Kerry yesterday, at what stage could they meet UCC?. Are there other clubs in Munster likely to mount a challenge to either of these two?

Crokes didn't look too hot at all. A bad day in fairness.
I can't guess at what will emerge out of Munster. It all seems fairly strong

When I said 8 points I thought it was clear, Ireland 31-23 Australia. I know a few secondary teachers who have poor Irish for primary you need Honours but I don't think there are requirements for second level. sure a lot of teachers do an arts degree first.
