Re: Ryder cup 2012
The only certainties at present would be Donald, McIlroy, Westwood due to form/ranking/consistency over the past year, don't feel anyone could dispute that.
Kaymer, Garcia and possibly Noren and Bjorn arent far behind.
Poulter will probably get a wild card due to matchplay/past merit.
No other players have been consistent enough to be classed as a "shoe in" in my book and I would even add Poulter to that category. Saying that the additional 4 I would go for would be:- McDowell, Fisher, F. Molinari, Lewis

Re: Ryder cup 2012
odds on skybet are
1/66 donal
1/50 mcilroy
1/33 westy
then
1/14 kaymer
then
1/5 poulter(obviously due to being 'mr matchplay') over form
1/5 mcdowel(realitively bad for him-due to poor recent form)
1/4 garcia(recent form has been very good as we iknow and pushed him to thise odds)
the above is certainly not surprising and backs up thje majority thoughts
then people may be very surprised that casey is next up at 2/5
i am personally not surprised as i feel he is another 'mr matchplay' and has made statements of his intent.
manessero is next up at even money- that does surprise me in fairness
after that we have the usual suspects at better value than evens(max 2/1) which includes the below(in order)
harrington
rose
molinari
dyson
fisher
bjorn

Re: Ryder cup 2012
to add my good value bets.
brian davies is 50/1
ok those odds will surely be due to the fact that he mainly plays on the uspga tour- but all the same it looks very good value
tom lewis at 5/1
only played a few events and won one of them!
robert rock
50/1
playing really well and starting to proove some consitancy and could produce a dyson type season next year
lowery at 66/1
looks great value as well.
gonna have a cheeky 4 fold, 3fold, double on the above 4 picks

Re: Ryder cup 2012
Not sure about the first two, Davis doesn't have a chance, Lewis does but I'd want much longer odds. Rock is great value though.

I'd be very interested to know if you're able to get this bet on as I think the bookies will see them as conflicting events ie Even though it doesn't work in your favour, in this instance, if one makes it it affects the chances of one of the others making it. Kind of like the old correct score/first scorer double that was rejected until they introduced a special bet for it.

Re: Ryder cup 2012
Just caught up on this and wanted to ask the question - is there a strong enough GB & I team if we were ever to revert back to original format?
Donald
Westwood
McIlroy
Rose
Poults
Dyson
McDowell
Clarke
Fisher
Laird
Harrington
Casey
and just looking at the owgr for some alternatives -
Lynn (when did he sneak into the top 100?!)
Hoey
Davis
Horsey
Ramsay
Gallacher
Rock
Lowry (for Super )
throw in Lewis and thats not a bad pool to pick from!

tried and no multipliers avail;able on the market- gutted
can only find the bet on sky bet- i assumed it would be fine due to the fact that(as you have said) it works against the punter

in fairness they would be a very good team and id back the above to beat the yanks.... Lynn has been playing well recently- i actually backed him for the valderama event over the weekend. abit gutted because he was doing well till the 3rd round blowout- but all the same he was the only player to shot a 68 final day- he has a strong game, but i suppose he needs soime confidence
