Furyk is likely to struggle to get more than 2 points from a possible 5 - so if he's your top scorer then God help you
BTW there is a SuperBru predictions pool at http://www.superbru.com/rydercup/ - search for the pool using pool code "vierhold" (without quotes)

Is that just to remind Rickie's teammates which side he's on?
He'll have played one more Ryder Cup than he has Tour wins. Good luck with that.

Don't be too sure kwini. With his cap on only the "U" will be visible. And to most Americans that stands for "U-rop".kwinigolfer wrote:Catch a load of this:

I reckon McIlroy will win, despite has failure to secure the fedex he is still the worlds in form player. I could also see gmac finishing well.
Although I don't much care for these limited field events.

I was watching a programme at the weekend and Zach Johnson was on it, when he keeps god and the bible out of it, he actually wasn't such a bad bloke at all. Okay, he looks like a frog and has zero charisma but he was good about the whole defeat last time.

Yes but no way on this earth will he play all 5 matches. Maybe 3 at most so getting 2 points out of 3 is optimistic

I would like the US to prevail in the country v continent event, but IMO the "Euro" team is simply stronger. I look for Rose and Rory to be the players of the event. The time of year most Brits really embrace the continent!

And Shotrock - why this obsession with country vs continent? While USA may be a single country (though, by definition, a collection of states), Europe is a collection of countries, but on a similar scale
Does an Englishman care much about a Bulgarian? Probably not, but does a Louisianan care much about a Washingtonite? Again, probably not - however the states band together for team purposes, but as the European countries band together for RC - the "scales" are similar though

I think there is a little bit of bitterness in Shotrock's comments. I think although USA is one country, there can be a lot of differences in attitudes in the various states.

The USA have probably not drawn from the full 50 states, whereas Europe have certainly not drawn players from the many European countries.

Davie - Just an obvious and accurate observation on my part ... no reason to get defensive boys!
The only way the US would probably win this thing is IF it went back to GB/I v US.
Again, embrace Europe (but not the Euro).

Re: Ryder Cup predictions.............
That would be a bit unfair SR. Be like having Texas v rest of America.
America need to step up their game. That's all.
THink they might win this time, not because they are better, but winning as often as Europe do, instills a little bit of apathy or lack of desire.

Think GB/I could muster a decent team this time!
Kaymer, Bjorn, Sergio, Stenson, Dubie out
Donald, Lowry, Howell, Casey, Warren in
OK; not a better team, but still in with a shot.

Me too, think Europe is jaded.
But I also think it depends on how Europes big guns are faring the first 1-2 days. If Rory, Sergio, Henrik, Justin all play like a bag of potatos it will kill the rest of the team. As motivating these players can be, they can also be the exact opposite.

True Kwini but Faldo was also in charge
I think Europe will win 15 - 13. Can't wait for it. Not so much looking forward to the alarm going off at 3.30 am to get the 4.48 am train to Gleneagles on Saturday Least its slightly later the other days I'm going.

I don't have Sky, but gather you can buy a weekend pass for Smart TV/Laptop. Will probably watch it that way.
Truss, I think you could find plenty American shots that week, just as long and unbelieveable as Rose's putt.
The thing I remember most about that though was MIckelson's fantastic reaction, compare that to the disgusting arrogance from 9C (who in Ryder Cup, really ought to keep histrionics very low key given how rotten he is) when he holed that long snaker against Westwood and Colsaerts. Brilliant that he still lost.

According to you Europe isn't going to need motivating it's all signed and sealed.

It's not only the RC. Many Europeans have recent Major/WGC/FedEx/RTD etc. successes. Think that all contributes to not being hungry enough.super_realist wrote:Precisely, they rolled over in 2008.

America will undoubtedly be stronger for not only having the absence of one of the least effective players ever in Ryder Cups, 9C, but they also won't miss his lack of team unity.

Tiger's record isn't that bad.
He's 13 wins, 17 losses and 3 halves. He's lost one singles match.
Nick Faldo has 23 wins, 19 losses and 4 halves, and he's supposed to be one of Europe's best ever players.
The difference between perceived failure and perceived success isn't much.

More the detrimental effect of 9C in your team, and his inability to form a decent partnership with anyone, but his record isn't great. Compared to Poulter, Donald, Westwood, Monty and Garcia it is hysterically poor.
