Mobile Phone viruses?
Obviously, by visiting certain websites on PC's, you can inadvertently download some malware.
Most phones have internet access these days - can your phone catch a PC virus?

Re: Mobile Phone viruses?
Most viruses are targetted at Windows operating systems, so unless you have a Windows phone, you are probably reasonably safe (at the moment).
However with the increase in iPhone, Android and Blackberry I wouldn't put it past the virus writers to try to target them in future

I suppose if you are checking e-mails on your phone that might have a virus attached it could affect your phone, but depends on the type of virus. Most viruses are targeted for computers, so i dont know what effect it would have on the mobile

Re: Mobile Phone viruses?
The answer to your question 'Can a phone catch a PC virus?' is simply a no.
However, if you are asking about getting any virus the technically correct answer is yes. Although possible though the likelihood of that happening now is fairly low. There have only been a few mobile viruses created and most were created by security researchers, but haven’t been released on the Internet anyway.
Of the phone viruses that are "in the wild," most only attack phones that have been jailbroken. So, as long as you haven’t unlocked your phone, it should be safe from viruses for now.

Re: Mobile Phone viruses?
Thought I would resurrect this thread due to an article I've just seen.
More than 50 applications available via the official Android Marketplace have been found to contain a virus.
Analysis suggests that the booby-trapped apps may have been downloaded up to 200,000 times.
The malicious apps were copies of existing applications, such as games, that had been repackaged to include the virus code.
All the apps found to contain the malicious code have now been removed from the Android Marketplace

This is the new age, computer viruses are 90s.
Smart Phone viruses are where it's at now , think of the information and the amount that these viruses and trojans could snatch.
All because of unlimited internet. Think i'll stick with my brick
