Movember - How are they coming along?
Movember (a portmanteau of the slang word "mo" for moustache and "November") is an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November.
In the spirit of trying to lift the forums spirits, I thought it would be nice to support a charitable cause.
Movember is a charity movement that started in Australia to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other health issues with men, where the men all grow moustaches in November, hence it's called Movember.
There is also something that mainly happens in Wales where men "grow a Grav" (a Grav is a beard named after the late great Ray Gravell) and it's to raise money for the Wales rugby players Association and Gravell's charity.
So although we are not asking people to give to these charities (although obviously please do should you wish), why dont you show your support of the cause by growing a tash in November.
And then post a picture of it on here.
At the end of the month, we will get a voting committee together to vote for the best one and award the accolade of "Mr Mo v2 2011".
I will even try to rustle up a prize for it - no promises though.
Let's see those taches!

I am growing a cookie duster for the cause. A colleague of mine has registered with the group on FB so we shall upload our attempts.

I have been more excited about having a moustache (and a very good excuse for having said moustache) than anything I can remember for a little while.
We've got a team here going in work. good luck guys

Are you supposed to start with a photo on November the 1st with no facial hair or do people not do that?

Re: Movember - How are they coming along?
Feel free to give updates on the growth, but we can have a honour system going.
Just tell us where you were when you started.
I had a shave 2 days ago so am starting with 2 days growth.

Re: Movember - How are they coming along?
Unfortunately, despite being close to 28 my facial hair growth is pathetic to say the least, I end up looking like a 15 year old who's trying to look 18...

Honour system - I was a week into beard-dom today, so I've just taken a razor to the lot, giving you all a ten-hour head start...
I trust you'll remember this fact, dear friends, if I should ever be lagging?

Re: Movember - How are they coming along?
This is something a group of myself and a group of friends started doing a few years back afterone of our close pals passed away due to prostate cancer and we found out movember was in support of that, we've since in the last 2 years been playing in a charity golf day culminating on the 30th of Movember we get about 75 people supporting it and the only entry requirements are a) you must have a moustache and b) accept that 50% of anything you spend on the day goes to support prostate cancer sufferers.
So count me in

Re: Movember - How are they coming along?
the little screen icon.
Post the url in there (have to upload it to something like imageshack or photobucket).
The icon next to the screen will host it but not quite sure how it works!

Re: Movember - How are they coming along?
Lads, I set up a public team (anyone can join) on the Movember group called “The 606 MOvement”. Anyone is welcome to join it but it’s set up on the Irish Movember page so all the money goes to the Irish charity. If anyone in the UK wants to join that’s cool with me but it probably makes more sense for them to set up their own team

It's amazing how many people end up with ginger beards even though the hair on their heads says quite different
