Useless Tennis Fact Day 11
By replacing Andy Murray at this years Basel tournament, Marco Chiudinelli beacme the first Swiss player to be seeded higher than Roger Federer since, errr, well, a long time.
(Both the ATP and BBC results page have Chiudinelli as 2nd seed, so I'm assuming this is correct, and that the draw was not changed when Murray dropped out, although I don't know the exact tournament rules)

Re: Useless Tennis Fact Day 11
ATP corrected their drawsheet last night.

Marc Rosset was probably the higher ranked in 1999.
on 20.12.1999 - Federer #64, Rosset #45.
Federer and Rosset were pretty close in rankings around Nov 2000 at #28 and #29 respectively.
Edit: Allegro is Federer's contemporary, but has never had a double-digit Singles ATP ranking.

I love your useless tennis facts JHM!
How nice for Marco (much good may it do him against his old friend!). Actually the home crowd must be really thrilled that a couple of Swiss players came through qualifying to join TMF and Stan the Man in the main draw.

LF, whilst I suspect the draw pdf is correct, I'm sticking to the ATP results page!

There's probably a rule so obscure - or maybe no rule at all - that we can believe either one.
Marco was born in Basel, so it must have been nice to get a late entry into the tournament.

Good point, JHM. I did not check that page. It also is that way on the Live Scores ticker.
